The atmosphere was good, they had a jazz band playing on Wednesday. The wait staff was nice and super helpful. The food was... amazing. It far exceeded my expectations. The surf and turf was perfect. First time, they have an excellent wait staff on board here, they care a lot about the customers. It goes without saying that... the food was perfect, I could only eat half of my order. I was attending a conference in Athens and a friend brought me here for lunch. OMG. A top 10 burger for sure. If your near... Athens then this is a must have burger. This restaurant is conveniently located in downtown Athens. The interior is nice without being ostentatious. The fried oysters... were delicious and possibly the best thing on the menu. The food was solid but not excellent. For example, my filet mignon wasnot very tender. The shrimp scampi lacked flavor and the shrimp was not particularly fresh. I was disappointed by the plating.The side dishes was very small for a steakhouse and they just plopped it on a plane white plate without much care forpresentation. You can judge for yourself in the pictures I am attaching. Although the place is named porterhouse, there is nota porterhouse steak on the menu. My glasses of Malbec was meh. The pricing is reasonable for a high end steakhouse. Overall, Iwould say an average non-chain steakhouse, maybe slightly above average. Read more
Great downtown dining experience. Wonderful food, great service, intimate experience. This is not a casual steakhouse. It's... also not a snobby steakhouse. I would call it an upscale dining experience. The wait staff didn't break into dance steps withloud country music, but it didn't feel like a bunch of stuffed shirts comparing Lamborghinis in the parking lot either. Theatmosphere was tastefully done and it felt intimate without pretension..(is that the way to say something is notpretentious?) The food was all done perfectly. From the salads to the steak. The The Caesar salad has a lot of dressing and astrong onion or garlicky flavor. It was delicious but it's not mild. The steak was super tender and flavorful without beingoverseasoned. I had the bone-in ribeye. We also had dessert ranging from bourbon pecan pie, peach cobbler to creme brulee.Everybody cleaned their bowl or plate. Our server Tyler had great recommendations for wine, whiskey and food. He was helpfulwithout being pushy. Extremely pleasant and attentive. We had a wonderful dining experience. We did make reservations and Iwould recommend that. Even though it was a Tuesday night the place had several large parties. We did not have to wait. Parkingcould be an issue if you're looking for a metered spot. But in Athens that's a lot like a lottery. We parked in the bank lotnext door and use the parkmobile app to pay for parking.
