I?ve been going to Mi Tradición for quite a few years. The bakery is very consistent and the counter help is friendly. The... process is you get a tray and tongs, pick out your pastries and bread, line up in the left line to have your choices bagged andpriced and then go to the right line to pay. Grab tortillas at the register. The system is all quite efficient. My favoritepastry is the Ojo. This last trip, we got a tortas de milanesa to go. The sandwich was delicious and cost about $8. The breadis perfection?.warm and slightly crisp. The sandwich was dressed just right and very flavorful. There are a lot of choices forthe tortas filling, but the milanesa was terrific in my opinion. This place is the BOMB! Such great food. I don?t get a lot of the baked goods to go because I have no self control, but their... tacos and tortas are absolutely delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Nothing fancy about this place, but let me tell you, feels like home. Staff is friendly. Food is always hot and consistently great. There?s a lot of places in Austin that say theyhave the ?best tacos? but this is a legit places without the outrageous prices. Definitely support this business. I would highlyrecommend and continue to come here. Read more

I came here for their pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread). I tried a concha and a yoyo. Conchas are probably the most popular and... recognizable traditional Mexican pan dulce, but for the uninitiated, I would describe them as soft and sweet bread with a whitestreusel topping that resembles the surface of a seashell. Growing up these were my favorite pan dulce, and the ones at MiTradición taste just like the ones you can find in Mexican panaderías. Much less famous, yoyos are made from two pieces ofbread held together by a thin layer of buttercream and coated with butter and powdered sugar. They look like yo-yo?s, hence thename, and they?re also known as besos (which means kisses, because the two pieces of bread are kissing each other). This was myfirst time trying yoyos, so I don?t have a point of comparison. I thought they were tasty, but my all-time favorite pan dulceremains the concha. I bought these at the end of the day, so both were a little hard, but I heated them up in the oven and thatsoftened them up to perfection. Warming up pan dulce is a game changer. I?ve also tried a slice of their tres leches cake. Theyhave three options: strawberry, mocha, or durazno (peach). I tried the tres leches that comes with strawberries. I thought itwas good, but not mind-blowing. Mi Tradición has a wide selection of pan dulce and you can?t beat their prices (I paid $2.50for two pieces of pan dulce). The only downside is that none of the pan dulce is labeled, and the staff speaks mostly Spanish.Overall, it?s a great panadería. I can?t wait to try their tacos and tortas. Read more
