I?ve been going to Mi Tradición for quite a few years. The bakery is very consistent and the counter help is friendly. The... process is you get a tray and tongs, pick out your pastries and bread, line up in the left line to have your choices bagged andpriced and then go to the right line to pay. Grab tortillas at the register. The system is all quite efficient. My favoritepastry is the Ojo. This last trip, we got a tortas de milanesa to go. The sandwich was delicious and cost about $8. The breadis perfection?.warm and slightly crisp. The sandwich was dressed just right and very flavorful. There are a lot of choices forthe tortas filling, but the milanesa was terrific in my opinion. This place is the BOMB! Such great food. I don?t get a lot of the baked goods to go because I have no self control, but their... tacos and tortas are absolutely delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Nothing fancy about this place, but let me tell you, feels like home. Staff is friendly. Food is always hot and consistently great. There?s a lot of places in Austin that say theyhave the ?best tacos? but this is a legit places without the outrageous prices. Definitely support this business. I would highlyrecommend and continue to come here. Read more

I came here for their pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread). I tried a concha and a yoyo. Conchas are probably the most popular and... recognizable traditional Mexican pan dulce, but for the uninitiated, I would describe them as soft and sweet bread with a whitestreusel topping that resembles the surface of a seashell. Growing up these were my favorite pan dulce, and the ones at MiTradición taste just like the ones you can find in Mexican panaderías. Much less famous, yoyos are made from two pieces ofbread held together by a thin layer of buttercream and coated with butter and powdered sugar. They look like yo-yo?s, hence thename, and they?re also known as besos (which means kisses, because the two pieces of bread are kissing each other). This was myfirst time trying yoyos, so I don?t have a point of comparison. I thought they were tasty, but my all-time favorite pan dulceremains the concha. I bought these at the end of the day, so both were a little hard, but I heated them up in the oven and thatsoftened them up to perfection. Warming up pan dulce is a game changer. I?ve also tried a slice of their tres leches cake. Theyhave three options: strawberry, mocha, or durazno (peach). I tried the tres leches that comes with strawberries. I thought itwas good, but not mind-blowing. Mi Tradición has a wide selection of pan dulce and you can?t beat their prices (I paid $2.50for two pieces of pan dulce). The only downside is that none of the pan dulce is labeled, and the staff speaks mostly Spanish.Overall, it?s a great panadería. I can?t wait to try their tacos and tortas. Read more

I love this place! I must stop in for their fabulous pastries every time I pass by. You will not be disappointed, it is a great... place for your pastries that are made fresh daily plus they also have a restaurant side that has some of the best breakfasttacos and breakfast I?ve ever tried. Prices are very reasonable. Everyone should try this place. Read more

Fresh, flavorful, & fast (except during common brunch/lunch hours) ... I've never lived in Mexico but we've visited different... regions enough and have been outside the touristy areas to recognize fantastic street/regional foods. I would say this placespecializes in Huaraches, Tortas, and has a fantastic in-house bakery, on the other side of the restaurant. They have an open, windowed kitchen where you can watch the staff busting it to keep up with demand. The chefs and crew there are amazing towatch. For the Huaraches, you can literally watch them start with the blue corn tortilla dough ... they press that out and tossit on the flat top to cook. While the tortilla is cooking they work on preparring the toppings. We normally enjoy the mushrooms, nopales (cactus), or the squash as we don't eat meat. Everything comes out fresh and matches well with the various aqua frescasthat they offer. As with any fresh fruit ... you can taste the different ripeness, sugar, and pulp levels of most of the fruitsthroughout the year which is fun. If you are new to aqua fresca, try the sandía (watermelon) or the piña-naranja(pineapple-orange) mix. Those two mixed together are great as well. For the Tortas, you watch the chef at the center grillfirst toast both sides of the bread tops and bottoms. They are critical about quality as we've seen them dispose of variouspieces that don't meet their standards. While the bread pieces are toasting they start on the various sandwhich ingredients, cooking them in individual layers then ultimately stacking them up and moving them to the cold prep station behind the grillwhere they are placed on top of the fresh, cold toppings and wrapped for you. Watching the cheese ooze onto the otheringredients is especially satisfying to our kiddos. You will want to come before or after common rush hours as this place canget packed with patrons. Don't forget to check out the bakery area that is on the other side of the restaurant seating area. They Read more

Authentic plus! I dont know what you call anything here as it is all in spanish. The round donut looking thing was amazing. ... The yeast bread part that looked like a donut was lightly sweet and filled with the most perfect Bavarian creme. The breakfasttacos were seasoned well. I love how they serve drinks out of giant pitchers with HUGE soup laddles not a soda fountain insight! Very cool you gottta come here for the real deaal! Read more

This is the first Mexican bakery I had enjoyed so much visiting and shopping. The bakery has an ugh selection of pastries, sweet... breads, churros, and more. At the entrance was so clear to me what to do, they offer big silver plates with tongues for the selfshopping. They have a whole loop of goodies that will add tons of calories to your diet but it will be worthy, I don't regretevery minute I spent exercising after I packed myself with that much sugar, I actually think I am ready for more. The bakery has2 sections inside , they have the bakery and also they have a restaurant, the offer Mexican food, Mexican drinks (Aguas frescas)and they have much more. The place looks well organized , clean, and with variety in food, prices are pretty good and the staffis very nice, always smiling and trying to serve you as well they can. I definitely recommend the tortas and aguas from therestaurant side of it! Hopefully will go back soon. Read more
