We stopped in on it hot Tuesday afternoon to get a quick lunch and was not disappointed. The atmosphere in here is cool,... literally. There’s an outdoor patio but it was 100° out so we opted for indoors which was pleasantly chilly but not toocold. The dining room is spacious with large comfy booths and a huge L-shaped sushi bar. The staff is very friendly andaccommodating, from the front hostess to the servers to the chefs. And I’m happy to report that the sushi here is fantastic,extremely fresh and flavorful. In Austin I’ve had good sushi, bad sushi, and amazing sushi and Neighborhood Sushi goes in theamazing list. We will definitely be back! Read more
Tucked away and hidden like a secret which made a seemingly impossible task of finding an amazing restaurant on south Congress... achievable. The host was able to find us a spot front row at the sushi bar. Cocktails and dishes were refreshing, perfect for ahot day. Rachel, our waitress was amazing. She made incredible recommendations and I wish I could try all the dishes she pointedout, so I’ll need to find my way back to south Congress soon! Seaweed salad was great with notes of orange/citrus. Tunatartare was tender, meaty and flavorful, we used it as a dipping sauce instead of soy sauce. My favorite thing was the thescallop hand rolls, honestly I could have ordered half a dozen of these. Wow just wow! First time experience was unbeatable, I was truly impressed with the way Neighborhood Sushi operates. We... couldn’t find the entrance at first and as soon as we found out you had to enter through the back of the building we fell inlove. We never experienced anything like this! I cannot express how delicious this sushi is! First of all, the restaurant is located on S. Congress and the patio area is so... cute. You enter the restaurant through the back door in the parking lot. All of the waiters are so knowledgeable and help guideyour meal if you aren’t sure what to order. Trust me, everything is so good!!! 10/10 would recommend to any lover of delicate sushi. This is my new favorite spot. Unfortunately, I did not take photos of... every beautifully handcrafted dish we had but took a snap of the oyster & caviar ordered from their “specials” menu. Ourservice was phenomenal. We asked for recommendations and tried our server’s favorite flavors. Again, 10/10 would recommend Ontops of the exquisite dining, the ambiance is serene, calming, but oh so cool. One of the best in Austin. A Must Try! Came for NYE Omakase dinner (Photos are from this dinner) but I've also been 2-3 times... for Happy Hour/Dinner. Every time, I enjoy high quality food, a beautiful atmosphere, and friendly/attentive/knowledgeablestaff. This restaurant is run right and is a must go to! They have a variety of dishes for the more advanced foodie and alsothose, like me, who are newer to Japanese cuisine. I would highly recommend Happy Hour as a great deal! Neighborhood sushi is an experience more than a meal! The ambiance is really cool, and the food is amazing. Pro tip: make use of... their amazing happy hour pricing. I loved the nagiri, chicken karaage was just perfect, and the fried baby eggplant was yum.Definitely visit if you haven't been yet! Read more
I'm visiting my partner in Austin again and we found this great spot on SoCo. Was a little difficult finding the doorway (hint... it's around back in the corner). The inside was modern and simplistic. The service was great. The food was amazing. Was alittle more expensive than what we originally thought, but it was worth it and will definitely go back next time I'm in town. Overall recommend highly, but if you're on a budget, may be more of a special occasion type place. Read more
