I have been visiting la Madeleine for many years. I now find that the service and condition of food has gone so bad that I will... not be going there any more. This morning there was no coffee and I was asked to wait till it brewed a new can. Then there wasno ice for the drinks. The breakfast was extraordinarily late to get served. I had finished my soup and was waiting for it toarrive. There were just a few people and I am not sure what the crew was doing. The potato cake was just in- edible with toomuch garlic and cold like an ice cube. Sorry no more of la Madeleine for me. Read more

Without a doubt, our worst dining experience since we moved to Northern Virginia. We ordered quiche, a breakfast sandwich,... fruit cup, and potatoes. First, other than the lady who we first spoke to as we came in, the rest of the staff acted as if theycouldn't be bothered. The lady who took our order only smiled when my wife complimented her on her hair. The entire orderexperience is very confusing. Next, my breakfast sandwich came out without anything else. We waited another 20 minutes beforeI had to hunt down a manager to get the rest of our food. The food tastes fine - nothing special but not bad. However, theservice is pitiful. I ordered a chicken Riviera sandwich and a cappuccino and both were delicious. The sandwich had very fresh ingredients and was... very tasty. They basically cook in front of you, wish is good if you have doubts about cleanliness and freshness. The quantitywas good enough too. The coffee was strong but not overwhelming. I enjoy coming to la Madeline for their French onion soup. Today I ordered the rustic chicken sandwich, which was pretty tasty.
This spot is very dirty and run down, the staff did not seem happy to be there or to take our order. The customers in front of... us were rude to us as well as the staff so maybe that's why we were treated poorly. I used to work for this company in Texasmany years ago and was very excited to enjoy the food again. The entire take out ordering experience was unpleasant and made menot look forward to eating my food. The shrimp in my pasta were VERY overcooked and hard to eat. I must have had the last bowlof French Onion soup as it was so salty I only ate half. I was very disappointed in my experience. Read more
