Some of the worst sushi I've had in a while. Salmon didnt taste sushi grade and had a gray-ish hue. The other rolls were covered... in spicy mayo after requesting no sauce. No accountability and no call back from management. Spent $75 on a dinner I couldn'teat. They also dont supply ginger or wasabi, so there was no disguising how bad the sushi was. My first time at Umi, travelled from LA to visit relatives in Bakersfield. Highly recommended! Great ambiance, reasonably... priced for high quality sea food. Servers are nice. Facility is super clean. Loved their sushi and salad dressing is to diefor. Umi levels up with the top Japanese restaurant in LA that I've been to. It deserves more than 5 stars. Read more
This place was fantastic! Clean and very open with plenty of seating. I will be bring my family here many more times because the... menu is huge and there are several more rolls I want to try. Good sushi costs and like I said the place was fantastic but itsnot so expensive that this place has to be relegated to special occasions only. I will need to check for a happy hour or lunchspecial. The spoon of green stuff is real wasabi and not green horse radish paste. There is a small up charge for them to bringout the real stuff and I thought it was quite good. I thought this place was great and all. Although despite the scenery that is displayed, the service is wack. The sushi is... sloppy, and I have had multiple experiences where my orders have been wrong. My BIGGEST COMPLAINT would be about paying. Theowner was forcing us to tip about $30 when tipping is a voluntary act, it's NOT required. My family and I will never go back tothis place. Read more
