Purposely looked to patronize black owned vegan spots while visiting Baltimore and found this joint on Happy Cow. This was our... 3rd black owned vegan/ soul food restaurant for the day, apparently Baltimore is the home for black vegan restaurants. I orderedthe one entree and one side combo and ended up getting the vegan ch-kn drumsticks and potato salad. The drumsticks were by farthe star of the dish. I've had these drumsticks before but Dodah's treatment of them is by far the most delicious and memorable. The sweet potato cake was also delicious. The ambiance and decor are awesome. I would've taken more pics except that therewere other people seated and eating so I didn't want to snap their pics in the meantime. I loved the green/plant walls. Mybiggest gripe was with the service. The person who prepped our food and cashed us out wasn't nice. I felt rushed, so they couldget back to updating the chalk board they were writing on when we came in. I also didn't feel comfortable asking any questionsbecause the one time I did, it felt as if I was an annoyance. Why is service the thing that stands out? Again, I had been to twoother Black-owned vegan restaurants already for the day and the service received in both places was great. I felt like thepeople at the other two restaurants who serviced me wanted me to spend my money with them. The service here at Dodah's suggestedthat I had other options other than Dodah's. So I recommend the ambiance and the food here, but I recommend one of the othervegan soul food restaurants if you value good service with your food. Read more
My daughter and I went for the first time today 8/15. I ordered fried fish, fresh kale and mac & cheese and my daughter had the... same but instead of fish, she had crab cakes! I give Dodah?s a 5-star because the food was delicious! The fish was crisp, theMac & cheese gave me comfort and my kale / garlic was fresh and tasty, it did not disappoint. Unique vegan spot I liked the curry chick'n had good flavor. The rice was bland only thing that gave it flavor was the bit of... juice from the curry flavored chick'n. I was not a fan of the Mac n cheese the flavor wasn't it for me or my friend. The friedplantains were good also their carrot cake was fresh. Had a decent PB smoothie. Read more
The food was amazing! I love the bbq ribs, I was really impressed! It feels good to be intentional when it come to what we put... in our bodies, and for it to be a better choice and delicious makes it even better! Went there for the 1st time last night. It was sooooo delicious. I had the pepper steak and rice with fried shrimp and greens... and my wife had the lasagna with msc snd cheese and kale. It was the best vegan spot we've been to. Food was super fresh andthere desserts were off the hook. I had the coconut cake and my wife had the sweet potato cake. We will definitely be goingback. Great! We finally got the chance to order the pepper steak, delicious! We are not vegans, hubby it's vegetarian, but we love... their food. The first time I went here I was blown away! Vegan Mac delish General Tso cauliflower highly recommended and on point! But... today! It?s salt city and I love salt but this was too much. Vegan Mac and Pepper steak fixing to give me high blood pressurefrom one meal. I can?t finish it ????. Read more
