I live nearby and have been here during COVID when it was outdoors only and also recently. Both times the service was wonderful,... they had our reservation and table all ready, the servers are very kind and helpful, and the food is absolutely delicious. Thisis one of my go-to spots for a nice dinner out. They have kept their lovely outdoor set up as an option and it's a beautifulatmosphere on the old Fells Street. Also very vegetarian friendly! Definitely a neighborhood gem. Read more

My wife and I had dinner at The Black Olive last week and it was fantastic. The staff genuinely cared about our experience. My... martini was mixed perfectly. The octopus appetizer was terrific. The Black Sea Bass and soft shell crabs in phyllo bread withfeta and spinach was very tasty. In the middle of dinner I thought to myself "is tomorrow too soon to come back?" Thisrestaurant has it all, ambiance, service and fantastic food. This is what dining out is supposed to be. Read more

The atmosphere was lovely. And that’s where it ended. Drinks were slow to come. And when one spilled the next one even slower.... Our waitress was either new or not well trained. There was no semblance of any busing of tables. At those kind of prices(dinner for 4 $450) I expect a clean set of silverware after my appetizer. The food had no flavor. And it’s presentation Ofthe dishes was not appetizing. The stuffed calamari looked like a deflating balloon and tasted like rubber. The whole grilledfish was just that slapped on the plate no crispiness no flavor. We do not understand why it has 4 1/2 stars. Read more

This was one of my favorite restaurants pre-pandemic; I cannot believe how much it has slipped. I brought visiting family with... me and all of us stood around for quite some time waiting for a table despite having a reservation and showing up on time. Thewaitress seemed very spread thin with how busy the restaurant was, so I can't blame her for needing reminders for small stufflike salt and silverware. Prices have gone up (which is not surprising, prices have gone up everywhere), but it seems portionsizes have also gotten smaller. It makes sense for mezze to be small plates, but the main dishes and accompaniments were small, too. Details were also missed, like the salads lacking dressing or the pita being burnt. The most disappointing part was thatthe fish we ordered did not taste very fresh. The savory bread pudding is one of the most unique dishes I have had in Baltimore, but wasn't quite the same this time - did the recipe change? It was also my birthday, which went unacknowledged even though wementioned it (just a "happy birthday" would have been nice). Positives: the octopus salad is still the best and tasted amazing!
