Reviews for Pho Hoa Grill in Bangor, ME

These 5 star reviews are baffling. The food was mediocre, would give 3 stars for the food, but good lord the service. I get that... it's not a traditional restaurant (it's literally a garage), but the moment we walked in we were "greeted" with a very apathetic"do you need menus..." like we were an inconvenience. It was just my wife and I and no one else in the restaurant. Every timethe girl up front spoke to us she seemed annoyed as hell. If you MUST eat here, I suggest takeout, but after reading SEVERALreviews saying how spotty their takeout is, you're taking a shot in the dark whether your order will be accurate or prepared atthe allotted time said over the phone. This is the industry I work, literally Asian Cuisine, and it is so frustrating to betreated like an inconvenience the moment we walk in. Won't be back, won't recommend it to anyone I know. Do better Pho HoaGrill, your customers are what keep you alive and if your approach is to make people feel unwelcome.. well that just sounds likea recipe for bad business. As I stated above, this is my field of work, so I will remove this review after about a week or two, just enough time to hopefully be heard, but God damn. Read more

An absolute unexpected gem! Bangor is not exactly known for its diverse food scene, but this place is amazing. Easily... comparable to pho dishes I've had in Big cities like DC and SF. Its the definition of a mom and pop that serves simple deliciousfood well, everytime. You won't regret trying. Read more

Five out of five for a couple of years. Best Asian restaurant in Bangor period. But in recent 1-2 months, the quality is going... down. I suspect that they changed the chef. At least for me, the dishes were so different. Read more

I absolutely love this VERY little slice of Vietnam in Maine. You walk in the door and instantly get hit with the aroma of being... in a Asian home. Now this place is EXTREMELY small inside...like 2 tables. It seems like you're eating in the kitchen with them.Mom and dad are in the back cooking . if you look to the right you see the sink where they clean the dishes..I felt like I washome and mom was cooking was dinner and were were just waiting to eat dinner. The food has the most flavor just like mymoms. After we were done eating , I walked in the dish washing area and thanked the mother for the amazing good. It's worth thedrive from Thomaston to eat here. I wish they would of opened the garage door " the front of the restaurant " to get fresh air.Because it was a little humid inside...but since the food was so good I didn't mind the heat. For a little hole in the wallplace that in a neighborhood...it's a perfect place to be for some feel good Asian food that brings you back when we were littlekids. I MISS MY MOMS COOKING!!! Read more

We tried this place for the first time and I enjoyed the pho. The broth was sweeter than the ones I had before. It was delicious... but I believe the serving is not big enough for an XL. Hence, I gave 4 stars. Nevertheless, I recommend this place when inBangor! Read more

This place deserves more attention. I don't write reviews often but the food here was THAT good I had to leave one. I recently... moved to Bangor and was craving Vietnamese. I saw the reviews here and figured this place would do the trick but this littlefamily restaurant blew me out of the water. Don't let first impressions fool you. The food is fresh and absolutely incredible. Ileft with a food high and will definitely be visiting this place more often. And if it matters... I'm Vietnamese Read more
