GREAT BBQ! Friendly, helpful staff and affordable...They have a card on the tables for a "free gift" for signing up and ours... turned out to be fried pickles! Good local beer selection to boot! Read more

I gave it 1 stars because, I've been here 3 times and all times the food was alright. Also they should do it so, if your done... throwing A table should be ready for your partie not wait till your done and then you have to stand around and wait for a table.Another thing the safety talk usually takes 3 to 5 minutes and it cuts into your throwing time so instead of an hour you have55mins to 50mins if you have any questions. Thank you and i wont be making any trips in the future Read more

I ordered for take-out and got the Burnt ends meal which come with a choice of 2 sides. I also ordered hush puppies. They came... with a sweet jalapeño dipping sauce. Everything was delicious and I will order again. The amount of ends seemed small, but theywere thick, and sufficient for a meal for me. The hush puppies were a bit dark, but the flavor was not diminished. Read more

We had reservations for axe throwing, which we were early for so we sat at the bar. When the throwing lane was open, two of our... members went to the lane while the rest of the party stayed at the bar to pay the bill. This took about 10 minutes to happen. Weall had a great time throwing axes, the guy who trained us was informative and checked in often. We had put our name on the waitlist for a table, were sent back to the bar to wait where we were looked over several times even after checking in with thehostess multiple times. When we finally got seated, it took longer than it should have to: get our drink order, receive thedrinks, place our order, be told items were unavailable, and then finally receive our food. Most of the food was pretty good, though a bit bland, and whoever named the Texas BBQ sauce clearly has never been to Texas! Granted this place hadn't been openvery long, we are willing to give it another try in the future when the kinks are worked out. Read more

Our first time going here. It was okay. I'm not a brisket expert by any means. It just didn't seem flavourful at all. If it... was smoked it really didn't taste like it. It was very dry but dipping it in the beans helped. Pulled pork fat didn't renderdown too well on the portion I received. I'd say it was 25% fat and it wasn't a very good texture to chew on. I question howlong it was smoked. Potatoes were cold. The serving was small but really no smaller than Moe's. Beans tasted like Bush'sgrilling beans with jalapeños in it. Corn bread on par with Jiffy mix. $26 and I finished it easily. She got the brisketburger. The brisket was again, dry and flavorless. The bacon on the burger was rubbery and under-done. I took a bite of itand it just didn't work as a burger. Maybe if there was a beef patty and thin slices of brisket atop it might work. It justballed up in your mouth. The burger my son got off the kids menu was very good. Our daughter had the half portion of pulledpork. She received a very good portion of meat and fries. I'd consider the kids menu as an adult. I tried the fries and theywere very good. Possibly one of the best fries in Bangor. The sauces were bland and possibly watered down. I sampled all ofthem and really couldn't make a determination after eating everything. I was soaking the brisket and I just couldn't taste itwell. The Carolina sauce needs way more vinegar. Would I go back? No. Maybe in a year if they last. 50% of new restaurantsdon't give good first impressions but some improve very well. I hope this is one of them. I never tried the axe throwing so Ican't speak for that. Moe's still beats this out. I hope this place improves and makes it through. There was only a 15minwait on a Saturday at 4pm. I was expecting 2+ hrs with such a new restaurant. We really need more options in Bangor. Especially barbecue. I'm kind of interested how the chicken is though. 2.5 out of 5 Read more

We had a large party for dinner and for axe throwing and we added people along the way and made adjustments-the staff was... helpful, accommodating, and flexible. It made our experience great! We started with drinks and dinner, which was great and worthgoing just for that-reasonably priced, great quality. And the axe throwing is not too distracting or loud even if you justwanted to eat. But we came for the axe throwing originally-it is different and fun! The staff coached you without taking up toomuch of your throwing time and weren?t hovering-just incredibly personal and helpful. I will definitely go back again-this isn?ta just one off novelty experience. It was very fun and I will do this again soon! Thank you, Smoke and Steel!! One thing tonote, though, is that they have tip jars for the people helping you throw. I was not aware of this and didn?t bring any cash. Wesigned up online and there wasn?t a tip option there-sadly I didn?t tip the deserving axe staff this time. Please bring cashbecause they are great! Read more
