I always enjoy the food I get at Big Four and today was no exception. They're new menu item, Chicken Pot Pie, was absolutely... delicious! Lots of chicken and veggies in a tasty gravy, topped with puff pastry makes for the perfect cold weather dish. Iadded a side salad and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Read more

Chef Devin I love the original(?) kids' coloring pages. Tonight's was a cat coming out a backpack containing a recipe book and a... spatula?! Anyway, restaurant is CLEAN, tables are spaced perfectly, food was well above average overall, except my son's chickenand fries (super salty). Service was excellent. Can't wait to try breakfast. The Big Four Cafe is a restaurant based upon remembering the Big Four Railroad that arrived in Batesville in the 1800's. The... decor is based upon advertisements from the Big Four and I believe some of the other decor was restored from the original BigFour Tavern. With that being said, the entrance in located between 2 buildings. There is not a lot of parking and the road isone-way. We managed to get the last parking spot when we went at 2:30 PM in the afternoon. I'm sure there is more parkingsomewhere. It is a very different sort of environment and I enjoyed it. You can tell how much the chef cares because the foodwas almost to pretty to eat. Be prepared for a little bit pricier of a meal. This may not be a place you want to bring yoursmall children. But the Smoked Gouda Arancini - worth every penny. Read more

Being from out of town, I decided to try this place on the recommendation of a hotel worker from the hotel I was staying in a... nearby small town. I am so glad I checked it out! It was a Sunday and I showed up at around 2:45p, about a quarter till closingtime. I was greeted with a smile and promptly seated. My young waiter, Cameron, was friendly and outgoing, explained the menufrom which I ordered breakfast. The food was fresh, hot, and excellent! I can?t say enough about the food, and or the service -both five stars in my books. If given the opportunity I will not hesitate to return. If you?re in the area give this place atry. You won?t regret it ???????????????????? Read more

The service was wonderful. They had a wonderful stout from Indianapolis called Count Nebula. I had with my dinner. Ordered the... pulled pork sandwich, it was okay. Onion rings were good. My husband ordered the same thing and felt the same as I did. Kidsliked their meals. Even their resident ghost Darnell made the lights flicker and turn on. Or was it the storm outside????? Read more

Not what I expected, when you visit a "café" you'd assume it has a variety of coffee drinks, they did not. My first cup of... coffee was dark and had a burnt taste like it was sitting in the pot for hours. I asked for a fresh cup and it was still a darkagain but not burnt. I gave it 2 stars because my wife enjoyed her creole shrimp pasta dish. My dish was the penne bolognese themenu described it as being "creamy" but it was more watery. I added meatballs to it they weren't fresh. Two of them where driedout around the edges and a bit crusty. Would I go back, not sure my wife enjoyed her dish though I was disappointed by the lackof choices of coffee and my dish didn't taste like any penne bolognese I have had at numerous places.
