This place did not impress me at all, especially considering the price. Not sure what?s the big hype about. The tamales were ok... but our shrimp pasta was cold and the heavy alfredo sauce just yucky. We asked for our steak to be medium rare but it came rare.The salad that came with it was wilted ice berg with 4 pieces of tomatoes and we had to send it back. They brought out anothersalad which wasn?t that much better. We were seated in the bar area which smelled of wet rag and the AC was blasting on ourface at 65F. Overall a very unpleasant experience. Was told about this by a co-worker. Described as upscale steaks with neighborhood feel and decor. And that is what it is. Based... in an old house, with an absolute eclectic decor, the steak here is AWESOME!!!!! I had to 10oz Filet Mignon, which melted in mymouth. They even have a two and three POUND steak available. The fries were perfect and it came with, fried biscuits! Neverhad that before and yes, it was great. One happy, and full customer. Read more
The 3lb porterhouse was good, but it wasn?t $139 good. Texas Roadhouse has a more flavorful steak at a fraction of the cost. The... shrimp were pretty good, but again, in South Louisiana, you?ve got to have an amazing recipe to beat out the competition. Tasteof LA Cafe shrimp are much better. One of the best ribeyes I?ve had. Plus they are consistent with cooking temperatures. Ever been to a restaurant multiple times... and each time your food comes out a different size portion or it?s cooked differently even though you ordered it exactly thesame as you did last time? So annoying. I know what to expect when I order here - it?s the same each time. Good quality cuts ofmeat, too. Super juicy and full of flavor. Also, I don?t know what?s in those little hushpuppy dough balls, but they?re 1000xbetter than any hushpuppy I?ve ever had. Read more
The place was quaint. We showed up without a reservation and we?re able to get a table. It wasn?t very busy. We both ordered... steak. The salad and drop biscuits was the best part of the meal. Neither steak had any flavor. (Texas Roadhouse is better in myopinion.) The fries it came with were burnt and not freshly made. They had been sitting a while. We all got sweet tea, but ittasted like instant tea and not brewed tea (we are all avid tea drinkers). For the amount we paid?I would not recommend thisplace. Read more
The beef tamales are very good especially if you put some chill sauce on top. We ordered 2 of the two pound ribeyes, one medium... and one medium well and I must say it was the very best steak I have ever had. I generally use A-1 for every steak no exceptTHIS was the first time in 40 years I used NONE. Please don't take my word for it and come get a taste you will be doingyourself a very big favor. We went for restaurant week. I got tomato basil soup, which I thought was too acidic for my taste. The ribeye steak was really... good. I got it cooked medium, but will probably try medium rare next time. The mashed potatoes were delicious. The chocolateeclair was amazing. It was very fluffy and not too sweet. I'm not sure I understand the appeal. I visited during restaurant week, although I ate from the regular menu. The steak was... good, but the sides were terrible. The mac and cheese was very sweet, and it seemed quite obvious that some of the ingredientswere...fermented. The salad was a wilty and moist iceberg lettuce salad. I imagine this restaurant holds nostalgia or it's partof a long tradition to visit there for some. I would not recommend it. Read more
