This was the best food I have ever eaten while visiting Baton Rouge. The food and hospitality was absolutely amazing. The meats... and side dishes were seasoned to perfection and with love. Everything were ordered was mouthwatering and delicious. The dry rubon the meats were so incredible that sauce was not needed. The staff demostrated the true meaning of good customer service. Theywere attentive, courtesy and so kind. I intend to visit The Smokey Pit when return to the area. If you are looking for the bestbarbeque and southern sides, I highly recommend The Smokey Pit. Looked like it was a family owned restaurant. This restaurant was way out of where we usually go. It was in a very secluded... location. It has a lounge area, pool area, patio and regular seating area. The in decor was very outdated but we went thereafter hearing very good opinions about the food. We are very glad we went there. We ordered 2 meats which each came with 2sides. We got a chicken leg quarter which was quite juicy and well seasones. The Rib tips were amazingly seasoned but the meatwas a little tough than i would enjoyed it to be. Coming to the side dishes, they were really good. We got Mac and cheese - verysilky and very cheesey Jambalaya - this side was charged extra but was worth it. Amazing taste. Red beans and rice - very homelytasted Baked beans - had that nice sweet barbecue sauce taste. Ordered Chicken/sausage gumbo - the best dish i ate there.
