Based on other Jersey shore restaurants, Charlie's of Bay head should get a 4 to 5 star rating. The food was simple, fresh and... tasty. The presentation was also above average for the area. We were very surprised at the lack of training up to the manager.It was very clear that Charlie's wanted to turn tables. Before we ordered drinks we were asked to order food. My cevicheappetiser was almost removed twice from the table while I stopped eating to be a part of our tables conversation. The cevicheplate was half full but the busgirl insisted on trying to remove the dish before we were done. Our entrees were tasty. Whileeating I noticed the manager with his ear piece communicating on what tables to move along. During the meal our busgirl againphysically reached for our plates while asking us if we were finished. We weren't? Finally she removed two of our four dishesalong with all the silverware and all accompaniment before all entrees were cleared. At almost $60.00 per/person for lunch, Idon't believe that 53 minutes was overstaying our welcome. We are local but will only return on a slow rainy day where themanager might appreciate a four top. Had a great dinner at Charlie's. Ordered ribs & tuna tartare as appetizers and filet mignon, lamb chops & truffle mashed... potatoes for dinner. The appetizers were absolutely delicious. Tuna tartare was not all tuna but more like sushi pizza with riceon the bottom. Still very good. The filet and lamb chops were prepared perfectly. Sauces could have had a little more flavor butthe meat was perfect. Truffle mashed potatoes were a bit overwhelming. Would have been better if the truffle oil was mixed intothe mashed potatoes instead of just poured on top. Overall a really nice experience. Read more

My husband and I had an AMAZING time at Charlie's of Bay Head! We were celebrating our one year wedding anniversary. We were... seated immediately, and our food came out so fast too! Dave was our waiter and he was so nice and very professional. On top ofcelebrating, we asked the restaurant if they could make a dessert dish displaying the gender of our first baby! We wanted to besurprised! I gave Dave my results and the kitchen created such a beautiful dish for us. I wish I could give more stars! I willdefinitely be coming back! 10/10 recommend. Read more

Sunday brunch, had reservations. There is free street parking or if you can find a lot nearby, I don't recall seeing meters... anywhere. It was 2 small flights of stairs, I'm pretty sure there was an elevator, if needed, but dining was on the 2nd floor.Steps were outdoors. Service and staff were amazing. It was a joint birthday brunch. They gave a little HBD card and serveddesserts with a candle and HBD written on the plate, nice touch. The food... At the beginning of the meal they served 2 slicesof bread, one was a spiced bread, the other was a berry bread, and 2 mini corn muffins, I knew I was in for an awesome brunchfrom the start. Grilled and chilled shrimp cocktail-- 3 giant shrimp are served with a brandy mayo and atomic cocktail sauce. Ipreferred just the cocktail sauce, I'm not sure what the atomic part was, it seemed like normal sauce--it was really goodthough. A little disappointed the shrimp was not fully cleaned properly, but I just cleaned out the and went about it--all 3 shrimp had remnants of the black string still connected, a little tug and they came off Crabcake Benedict--just get it. I mean....if u like eggs Benedict, you like crab cake, you could not ask for anything more (neededjust a touch of salt, but that's my preference). I was weary about the tomato on it, I dislike them, but it worked for me. Theegg was cooked perfectly and when u sliced through the yolk, it just oozed deliciousness everywhere. There was just the rightamount of crab cake. Crab and corn toast-if u don't have someone to share with, you're going to have to make a decision onwhich crab dish you want. The crab and corn---it was a close 2nd for me, I preferred the Benedict only because I was in themood for the egg, but this crab and corn toast was just as delish!!!! 1st time here. Excellent service, food and atmosphere! The entire staff was great. Our server was amazing. Drinks are fresh, Try... the ," Saltwater Cooler"! Steak was cooked to the right temp, calamari was good (sweet and spicy) ask for more sauce. Interioris clean and sharp looking! Definitely going to come back. Thanks guys! Read more

This place was absolutely beautiful. The staff was really helpful and it’s the perfect spot for a quiet dinner or anniversary... or birthday celebration. The food was beyond amazing. I never really order salmon but I did and I enjoyed every single bite. Themussels were definitely the best thing I had there. We really enjoyed this amazing restaurant.
