Went for Mother's Day and it was an absolutely perfect atmosphere, food and service was great so we'll be back!

My friends and I are unfamiliar with the Bayfield area but the Black Dog menu caught our eye right away during our trip. I was... NOT disappointed! The big soft pretzel was served warm and stayed warm while I took my time with it which is some sort of magic.The fish and chips were AMAZING. I knew as soon as I cut into it that it was the most beautiful fish I've had, and I've hadfresh east coast fare. The server was amazing, 10/10 but I didn't catch his name. He took great care of our friend who waslactose and needed a substitution. The only reason it isn't 5 star would be the cocktail I enjoyed first. The brand ofgingerbeer was too subtle to properly compliment my dark and stormy so the rum was a hair overpowering. Overall lovely food andthe pub itself has a great atmosphere. Pleasant stop for a light lunch on a weekend drive. The staff and atmosphere was welcoming, the food was outstanding. We had a... few apps and found the duck wings to be superb, the pate was tasty, and the fries were just plain - wow. Good fun followed withstroll thru historic Bayfield. Highly recommend. Read more
Came here on a rainy afternoon looking for coffee and cake. Had a look at the menu and I ordered the brussel sprouts and am I... ever glad I did. They were probably the best I've ever had. And being vegetarian I've had a lot! The place was quite busy eventhough it wasn't lunch hour ; it is clearly a popular restaurant. Coffee and chocolate as well as carrot cake was delicious.Definitely coming back here the next time we are in Bayfield. Read more
This was our first time trying Black Dog and it was nothing short of impressive. It was difficult deciding which restaurant to... dine at in Bayfield, but Black Dog's menu stood out as being the most unique, having the most food options and seemed to havethe least amount of fried foods. We went around 4pm and the late afternoon/evening dinner rush was just about to start. Ourserver was amazing, we never felt rushed, she always made sure that we had exactly what we needed, and the timing betweencourses was always perfect. The portions were generous. The cocktails were great and the wine list had something for everyone! Ilove the painted black look of the building. It was truly a great patio dining experience. Note that they do not takereservations so I would suggest going a little bit earlier to account for any waits that they may have. Thank you, Black Dog.We look forward to returning again soon! Really awesome service and a fantastic ambiance to the exterior and interior of this place, nestled in the heart of Bayfield,... ON. Had the fish 'n chips and it was Haddock with hand cut fries, and the batter was crisp. They have a really great beerselection along with ciders and seltzers, and they have a standalone whiskey and spirits menu. Amazingly expensive and stockedbar back. Highly recommended! Read more
I had to come up from London to Bayfield area to quote on an eavestrough replacement job on a nearby farm. I brought my wife... and we stopped for lunch. It was our first time here and it was amazing! We enjoyed the pub atmosphere, our server was superfriendly and our meal was awesome. The servings are generous and honestly, the food was presented with style and seasonedwonderfully! If we lived closer this would be our regular spot. You won't be disappointed! Read more
