I was wondering why there wasn?t much info on their website. Very outdated and needs a lot of cosmetic repair. The shower had... black mold on the caulking that could have easily replaced. Kitchen had a minimum amount of utensils and cookware. Thelandscaping and buildings were in need of cosmetic repair. Two people and we received a room with 2 double beds? Read more

Staff is friendly, and extremely helpful. The room was beautiful! We had a jacuzzi suite, and it was worth every penny! Can't... wait to book our next golf getaway to shanty creek, and will absolutely stay at lakeview again! Read more

There is a quiet time from 11pm to 7am. They begin to vacuum the hallways at 6am. The area is set up as a village. The hotel... needs a major refresh. Read more

Out dated rooms by about 15 years at least. Parking lot construction that they didn't notify us about until the day before we... were supposed to be there. Some local tent party that they never notified us about at all. I was traveling with a 2 year oldthat they were fully aware of and yet they placed us right next to the party. They claim 11:00 quiet time but you literally haveto complain about it to get it enforced. Very pricey for what little you get. They keep the mini fridge in a closed cabinet sothe motor makes the fridge hot to the point that it over compensates on the inside of the fridge and literally froze everythingwe had in there solid, all the groceries we brought to save a few bucks got ruined and all the leftovers we put in there gotruined, so basically cost us more in the long run. Literally the only enjoyable part of the trip was the food that we actuallygot to eat... If there was anything half as nice for a better rate we would never stay here again. Read more

My husband & I stayed for 2 nights to be near our family in Mancelona. It was our grandson's graduation, so the hotel was close... by. The beds were firm with nice bedding. Our tile shower was very nice! The many steps were difficult for my 92 year oldparents so they were given a handicapped room. All was good, including the friendly staff at the front desk. A big problem wason Saturday night with an extremely loud band playing close to our room at the Shanty! It was still blaring there at 12:30 am. Read more

This place could be much better with a deep clean. I'm pretty sure the sheets were used beforehand quite a bit, they smelled... like a nursing home. The carpet in our room was dirty and really needs to be shampooed. I really enjoyed the set up of ourroom, very cozy but would have been more relaxing if it wasn't dirty. This was our 3rd stay here and once again, we enjoyed ourselves! Yes it is an old hotel and could use some updating but I don't... think most people are looking for a fancy resort in Northern Michigan. We love visiting shorts brewery and this hotel is superconvenient for that. My only complaint is that our room this time (a king parlor suite) had no outlets outside of the bathroom!The room was fantastic overall and the view was beautiful. But we have two kids and we couldn't charge our phones /tablets, butmost importantly, my husband uses a bi pap machine at night and there was no place to plug it in which led to a poor night'ssleep for everyone. We have never stayed anywhere that didn't have outlets near the bed. It seems like something that could beremedied easily and I would definitely give 5 stars if it was. Read more
