This was my 1st time here and it's place you do NOT WANT TO MISS! It had a nice contemporary atmosphere but had older music... playing. Loved that! The waitress was BEYOND helpful. She explained what the diffrent sauces were and what was in them. Myfriend and I are proud to say their 'state sauce' is our favorite! She checked on us at least twice and was very polite. Theburger itself was cooked exactly how we liked it and was very juicy. Neither the fries nor onion rings were a disappointmenteither! I mean YOU build your own burger!. How can you go wrong? Our sodas, you can taste they were fresh fountain sodas. Notthat watered down stuff you'll find in some other places. This place is a MUST for burgers. It's build your own with an appetizer and dessert menu. We got the Hang Over fries and they... were DELICIOUS. I built myself a salmon burger with a GF bun. Everything was delicious and the bun tasted like regular bread. Wewill definitely be back! Read more

Was on my way back to Philly from Punxsutawney after seeing Phil and was craving a great cheeseburger. I was in luck because I... was served a stellar burger from State burger co. The service was amazing, place was very clean and the process was fantastic.You draw up your order the way you like it and they cook it to your specifications. My bacon double was cooked to perfection.Was totally satisfied with my visit. My shake was 5 star all the way. My only gripe would be that they didn?t give me the metalshake container with the extra, but not a real complaint. Wish I lived closer to this place! What a great small town find! This is a must visit if you are anywhere near State College, PA! You'll be greeted with a warm... smile, taken to your table where you find yourself armed with a pencil, ready to build your own masterpiece! This is fantastic. You pick your burger, any and all options you want on the burger (chips on a sandwich bring back so many childhood memories). I don't even know what some of the sauces are that you can choose, but I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you opt for aunique adventure. Don't forget to add "fry dust" to take those beauties up a notch too! I opted for plain fries. They weredelicious, but my wife's parmesan fries were heavenly! Oh, and after you are done building your burger with your paper andpencil, don't forget to tell your server that you want one of the amazing dairy concoctions they masterfully mix together in theback. Our son chose the Grasshopper, and he was hopping all the way home talking about it. They'll even throw in a littlesugary treat when the bill comes. We drove all the way from State College (around 20 minute drive) just to eat this burger. We were not disappointed. The place is... located at the corner of a large building. It was fairly empty when we visited (around 2 pm). The place specialises in just onething. Their burger. It is a fully customizable burger where you select the meat, the bun, the condiments etc. You are presentedwith a form where you fill out what you want. Prices for extras are clearly indicated. I went for a modest combination though itwould be fun to go all out (something I plan to do if I get an opportunity to go there again). The burger comes withcomplimentary fries but you can customize those too, or completely replace them with salad or poutine, etc. Since it was verycold, I did not try any of their delicious looking shakes. Prices are quiet reasonable. This is well worth the visit. HighlyRecommended. Read more
We were visiting my daughter at Penn State, we went to State Burger for lunch, awesome food and service. We were a party of 10... and everyone loved their lunch. Burgers and fries were delicious, and we all shared milkshakes and they were awesome. Read more
Possibly one of the friendliest servers I have experienced at a restaurant! When someone goes out of their way to be welcoming... and kind, doesn't that make everything else in the place elevate? You can customize your burger with hundreds of combinations ofingredients here. The burger on a salad was well-cooked, just the way I requested. Peanut butter, jelly, and jalapenos was a funoption for toppings. The jelly slice dessert was different, but I wouldn't order it again - too thick crust and not much flavor.The cookie dough ice cream sandwich wasn't as successful as I hoped either. Again, the dough was very thick, and the ice creamjust didn't deliver on the pink frosting animal cookie flavor that it promised. So go for the wonderful staff and experimentwith your burger for sure...but maybe skip dessert. Read more
