I normally don't leave negative reviews but this place is WAY overpriced, dirty rugs, nothing on their web site that says CASH... ONLY because I looked before we went over there. They have an ATM but I had to leave my husband there to go to an ATM thatdispensed in increments of $10. There was no syrup on the table, was served coffee with no cream (our waitress brought thatlater.after asking if we wanted cream to begin with) Food wasnt hot, but it was warm at least. We were seated immediately and then watched 4 other tables be seated and orders taken for over 20 minutes without any server... asking what we wanted to drink. We waited another 5 minutes after we asked another server and then left. The food being servedaround us looked mediocre. Read more
This place is unorganized and the food is absolutely miserable. I ordered the steak and eggs it?s one of the most expensive... dishes on the menu. I WOULDN'T FEED MY DOG THAT STEAK! Then the hosts tried to tell me that was a good quality steak. Look I?m abutchers son that was a flank steak that was frozen for 6 months then quickly thawed and burnt to a crisp. I would avoid this Waffle Shop location and go to the ones in State College instead. This location used to have very good... service, but we waited for an hour in our car with what was originally a 20 minute wait, and then when we were seated we waitedanother 20-30 minutes for our waitress to wake up from her nap and help us. There were four of us. Only three of us were givencoffee mugs. Once our order was taken, we waited for around 30 minutes for drinks and another 30-40 minutes for our food. Wechecked in at 11am and literally closed the place down at 2pm. Food was average, but the service ruined the review. Typically Iwould not have waited this long for service, but I wanted to gather all of the details for this juicy review. AVOID thisrestaurant. Read more
My husband, 2 sweet little pups and I were Fall leaf peepin? en route to western states. After a smelly night in the red roof... inn, we stopped at The Waffle Shop about 30 miles down the road. I will share the good, the bad and the ugly. The good:breakfast was quick, bacon was even faster, the service was good with constant refills of coffee, and they offer localPennsylvania cuisine such as creamed chipped beef. The bad: they don?t seat you unless the whole party has arrived, there is arevolving door of men using the restroom, cash only which definitely means money laundering, and the cashier continually countedmoney in the open, teasing the peasants with her wads of cash. The ugly: the creamed beef might give you the runs, and there isa vicious battle between the original owner who now owns the ?original waffle shop?, he sounds like a total sleeze ball!Overall, 5/5 an excellent experience at the waffle shop and would highly recommend to all passing through!! The Waffle Shop is great. Everything is made from locally sourced products when available, and in season. Jen is great too. She... was so sweet, and you can tell she takes great pride in the shop. I don't think I've ever enjoyed an eatery, as much as I didhere. Very clean, very friendly, and the food was soooo good. It had a nice, airy, and lighthearted atmosphere. But was warm andcomfortable inside. Hand sanitizer has been placed right at the entrance. There is also an ATM, and some dedicated parkingspots. The Waffle Shop is easy to find from the road. The breakfast salad was so good. Definitely my favorite. The pancakes werealso really, really tasty. I'll be returning here very often. To the staff, thank you for giving me such a nice experience ?
