Everything I've had here is amazing here and the staff are so friendly, welcoming, and helpful! This place is a new fave for me!... The fried catfish, the fried chicken, fried okra, fried pickles, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans w/turkey (these were sogood that I also *had* to eat the broth at the bottom - omgsh so yummy!!), mac and cheese, baked yams, the sweet potato pie, andthe peach cobbler - this is now my favorite comfort food spot in the Omaha area - definitely will be back again soon! The food was good, my chops could've been fried a tad bit harder& could use a lil more seasoning,but my sides items and... cornbread were perfect ?? The restaurant is very nice &clean. I will return to try the fish & Cajun burger. Read more

Shugs is a must go to place in Bellevue. It's tastefully appointed with a bit of a hipster feel (those Edison light bulbs) ,... where the outside looks hole in the wall, but the inside is not. You can order to go at the counter or sit down and order havefull table service. We came on a Thursday and the restaurant was full. We managed to get the last table, although they also hadbar seating that was available (those are stools that are elevated) There was a little bit of confusion for myself when Iwalked in because I saw the order here sign. She told us to sit at the table but it was very busy so I couldn't reallyunderstand what she was saying. Since it was so loud. I ended up ordering at the counter only to find out that they do fulltable service. I think it caused a bit of confusion with our service because I did that. Service was efficient at the counterif a bit aloof in the beginning. They warmed up a 1000x by the end of service. I think they were a bit overwhelmed as the placewas full. Jalapeno garlic wings 5 stars It was served piping hot, Perfectly balanced with flavor, this garners an easy 5 star.Outside is crispy, inside is juicy The only issue was if we had waited for the server to bring us plates it would have cooleddown, but we didn't, so not a problem for us. Fried chicken 4.5 stars to 5 I'm not sure if it's just because the jalapenogarlic wings could be 5+ but it shines a bit more for me than the fried chicken. The white meat was very good (I normally avoidwhite meat for fried chicken, but this was something I could get into) Blackened catfish 4 stars It was good. Not a stand outbut good. Shug?s is definitely the best soul food in town! Great customer service and the food is savory with the perfect hint of sweet.... The aesthetic is both urban and commemorative, highlighting black historical figures canvassed on the walls. Such a vibe withgood music! Thank you to the owner for providing our community with quality food. I ordered the single smothered pork chop withturkey greens, mac and cheese and added an extra side of mashed potatoes. Food is fresh and delicious. Had fried pickles-batter is light and crunchy; fried chicken was juicy and tender; cornbread was... sweet and moist, I think you get the point. Service is friendly and attentive. It is such a gem in Bellevue, go there now!!10/10 recommend this place. Read more
