Update 8/15/22 Still baffled at some of the 1 star reviews. I think their food is solid, especially the asada and the free... beans. Service can be slow at times and they did run out of jalapeños which happens from time to time, but the place was clean,service solid and food very good. Their system does need some work though. With a crowd, it can be very slow. There was onlyone group ahead of us on a pretty slow night and still took about 10 mins from the time we ordered to the time we got our numbercalled, which isn?t too bad, but if it were busier, no way their system would keep up unless they had multiple taqueros. Aboutthe food. Tried the buche, adobada, and asada. All were good, but stand out is the asada. The mesquite flavors in the meatreally is special. Some parts can be chewy, but it?s the cut of meat and typical with many of the TJ taco stands. Anyway,ordered an extra burrito to go and had my three tacos along with the free frijoles de La olla and left happy and fed. Alwayslove a salsa bar too! ?? Not sure why the reviews are so bad. The style of taco calls for the type of meat that can be a bitchewy, but in my opinion, part of the TJ street taco experience. Flavors were on point, salsas were fire and service quick andfriendly. Happy the place wasn?t too busy when we tried it. Had a different experience with service at the Whittier locationwhen there was a line and their system was overwhelmed. I think the most under appreciated menu item is the asada burrito.Packed with meat and can easily feed two with a taco or two just in case. Also tried a few asada tacos which were really good.The adobada and birria were just ok and a pass for next time, but the consommé was pretty good. What?s going to keep me comingback is the salsas. The habanero was my fave due to heat, but green and chipotle were very tasty options. The mild red is apass for me though. They also have free beans, grilled jalapeños and scallions, so make sure to check it all out. Read more
Tacos look old. They don't taste like Tijuana's tacos. Onion comes in big chunks. Tortilla is good won't rip apart easily tho
The Carne asada was extremely bland, the salsas needed more flavor and spiciness. The bread on top ofthe torta was falling... apart. Tacos adobado and Carne asada nice presentation but the taste once again was off. The staff was extremely nice andhelpful. Read more
Extremely dissatisfied tortilla soaking wet in oil al pastor tacos we're really oily no flavor.got an upset stomach
Disappointed. The meat had no flavor. I ordered two asada tacos and an asada torta. The tacos tortilla was not good or warm. I... bit in and literally tasted nothing. I had to ask for limes (gave me lemons) and that helped if you squeeze into the meat andeat the meat alone. The guac tasted like guac from a freezer that was thawed earlier, no flavor and runny (opposed to fresh andthick). The torta was just as bad. Had beans and even with that and the bread, still no flavor. Squeezed a bunch of lemon andate the torta but did not eat the tacos. Meat was a tad chewy. These tacos are literally nasty. Meat has no flavor. The consomé has no flavor. Cebollitas are not good either. Their sauces... aren?t spicy and are super watered down. Only thing I liked from here I was in and out really fast. Read more
Quite possibly the worst tacos I've ever had in my life. The flavor was lost with the guacamole, not that it was there to begin... with. The wait to get the food is ridiculous, I got the extra onions, completely inedible since they didn't cut the roots offbefore they cooked/served them. Never again, run away, there are better WAY better choices in the area that here, not even as alast resort, starving is a better option. Read more
Tacos are good. Service was fast. But do keep in mind I came during the week.
