I have been here twice and had two completely different experiences. The first was in May for my wedding anniversary with my... wife. The second was this past Sunday, July 24, for her birthday. The first experience was really good. Service and food was onpar with what you expect from a professional steakhouse. Our second visit was really disappointing. Service was pretty bad andthe food was just ok at best. I would rate higher, but the second experience was so dismal, it overshadowed the good one inMay. I won't be coming back. The management needs to work with their staff on what quality service is. And if they are going tocharge high level steakhouse prices, they need to serve high level food. This was neither. I have literally received betterservice at McDonald's within the past year. That is sad. If you're looking for a real steakhouse experience in this area,you'll need to go to Madison or Chicago. This place does not make the cut. Read more
My wife and I went here for the first time. I got the New York Strip she got the Prime Rib. Both were seasoned and cooked ... perfectly. I have never had a steak that thick and cooked how I ordered. We will definitely go back. Read more
Great place ! Food unbelievable steaks cooked perfect it's my favorite place . It was our 43rd anniversary we asked for a window... seat they gave us the best seat in the place best server awesome ! They even put a card at our table wishing us well and broughtus champagne for a toast ! You will never find a better place try it ! Read more
Small handicap parking area. Restaurant is very handicap walker friendly. Service is great. Food portion are huge. Service is... fast. They have tv for sports. Drinks were good at the bar. They have different sections, we eat on the porch. Weather was badfor outside eating. Very expensive $$$$. However the steaks were tender and the lobster was nice. Read more
The steak was phenomenal, the fish was phenomenal and I the service was phenomenal. The restaurant was staffed very well and we... were greeted by everyone as we passed by. The bus boys also provided top service, as they cleared dirty dishes from tables andhelped customers with to go boxes. For what we ate, I thought the price was on target with the likes of a Gibson's. So for anexcellent time and one unforgettable meal, might I suggest Merrill and Houston's Steak Joint! Read more
Came here on New Year's Eve. We felt very rushed. Our reservations were for 10:30 p.m. but if they are going to be rushing... people why offer reservations at that time. The waitress was nice enough however our main course was brought before we were evendone with our appetizer. The prime rib was okay but had a lot of fat on it more so than meat. Amazing food, atmosphere and service! Our waitress was attentive and kept our experience pleasant. I got the 18 oz. Rib-eye... (medium) with garlic mashed potatoes. The 18 oz Rib-eye was was cooked to Medium perfection, both tender and juicy. The Frenchonion soup appetizer was delicious and rich with flavor. Whi could turn down dessert, as the Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake wascreated to please! It melts in your mouth with a rich, creamy, texture and taste. The atmosphere doesn't disappoint. There isbeauty, class and memories of Beloit draped on the walls of the beautiful brick architecture. A view of the river and hebeautifully remodeled buildings of 3rd Street across the way are also worth a stroll after a filling meal. Read more
We ended up at Merrill's after an Italian restaurant across the street didn't want to host our party of 8. Well, it worked out... great! We felt welcome from the beginning. We got a large table on a heated patio with a nice view of the river. The food wasreally good, especially the stuffed mushrooms and fresh rolls with butter. The bruschetta was just so-so,I would have preferredit on crostini,not on foccacia. Our entrees were very good, we recommend salmon, chicken,and steak- obviously!
