I haven?t been here since they opened and decided to give it another try. Taste is not that great plus every time I pick up the... sushi it crumbles. Let?s just say I rather buy sushi from a grocery store :/ Read more

*Update* Been here 3 times now! Its quite a drive for us but totally worth it! We've brought family this time, which should show... ya how good it is. The spicy steak sandwich was actually spicy! The duck bacon wonton were to die for. All the sushi was freshand made fast. The staff were excellent and answered all our questions. We will definitely be coming here to try more of theirdelicious food! ???????????????????? Read more

Delicious, fresh food. Their menu explains exactly what you are getting - which is great for people who aren't extremely... familiar with sushi lingo. The staff is very friendly and there is a lovely seating area with a glass roof that is open on nicedays. Read more

NOT DoorDash affiliated, so estimated times and menu items can be incorrect. The staff was helpful to explain this to me when I... called to see why my order was late. It was my first time ordering from here. The food was okay: I got the sushi sampler andthe angry bird roll (fried chicken instead of fish). The rolls fall apart pretty easily and there was an odd fish flavor withone of my nigiri, but I was overall happy. I?d go back if someone invited me, but I?ll probably just go to Rockford next time Iwant sushi. Read more

I was very surprised and happy with this place. All we bought was sushi and, honestly, not much more was needed. The variety was... amazing and they had seasonal options, which made me beyond happy because it included musubi, which I haven't seen so farinland. The dessert sushi was tasty too. The ONLY "complaint" I had was the fact that the green tea we received was Tazo tea.I've been used to macha tea from sushi places that it surprised me. Either way, we would come back to try their other items(like their ramen). Read more

This is my favorite sushi place! The closest place around to get fresh cheap sushi would have been dekalb. I loved having the... fresh rolls, but ever since I've found this gem, I've been going every other week! I love the rolls, the bento boxes, and thebowls! I wish they had ramen, but I'm hoping that might be a seasonal option for the winter. Only downfall is price. If theywere a little lower, I'd be there every week! ???? Read more

I love that Belvidere has new places popping up downtown. The Shortline is absolutely adorable. The style makes you feel like... you're somewhere else, and it's very modern and tasteful. My family and I sat outside because it was a beautiful day and thepatio was very pleasing. This would be a great place for a date, lunch or dinner. The selection of food was wide yet familiar. And the food itself was delicious. My "picky" eater finished her bento box no problem. I cannot wait to go back many times totry the rest of the menu! It?s nice to see a local ethnic restaurant open in Belvidere since there is a paucity of them with the exception of Mexican... cuisine. After walking in, I really appreciated the ambiance of the place. It is self-serve, but you can sit first and figureout what you?re going to have, which is great if you're pressed for time. There is also a to-go case if you want to getsomething on the fly. Everything in the case is half-off after 7 PM! We started out with the shrimp spring roll which thevegetables tasted like they were picked that morning and the dipping sauce tasted homemade. Also had the tuna poke for astarter which was inimitable. The miso soup was also delectable. Had the tuna, salmon, and escolar sashimi which had aravishing presentation (see photo). It not only came with the ubiquitous ?fake? wasabi (green horse radish), but genuinewasabi, which is almost unheard of, even in Japan. The didn?t have alcohol when we were there, but we were informed that theygot their liquor license that day. The beers they were planning on selling were your usual macro beers. Something I think thatwould really embellish this establishment is serving a local craft beer or two. Pig Mind?s Brewery come?s to mind as theirbeers are outstanding. Read more
