After reading the positive reviews, my husband and I stopped by for lunch. We both ordered the downtowner, which was a great... choice. The food and service were excellent and a couple of the staff asked how our food was. Very friendly. Will definitely goback the next time we're in the area. Very pleased! Read more

Not only are Richard and Lisa and their team incredible people, they happen to also make the best sandwiches in town! We had... the pleasure of eating their sandwiches while in town a couple weeks ago, and I could not have been happier than I was with myhot poochie sandwich. I'm looking forward to having it again and trying more of their delicious sounding options! Read more

The sandwich I had was very good. The soda machine diet coke tasted odd, almost fruity. They did let me trade it for a can of... diet coke. A couple menu items were unavailable due to the rush of customers they had earlier. Read more

Nice clean sandwich shop. It's a little pricey but tasty. I had the blackened chicken wrap and hubbie had the turkey on rye.... There's a nice patio and also picnic tables on the far side of the parking lot. Read more

We found a fun little joint called Happy Poochie Eatery on Main Street in downtown Benton Harbor, Michigan. They have few... indoor seats, a side patio and a park-like outdoor dining area in the back by the old shipping canal. Everything was superclean and well organized. We started off with The Chopper, an enormous salad featuring chicken, bacon, pasta, and Gorgonzolacheese mixed with romaine, red cabbage, and scallions. The sweet Italian dressing is spot on, offering just a subtle sweetnessto contrast the salt in the bacon and cheese. The attention to detail is evident in the quality and balance of ingredients inthe salads, wraps, sandwiches, and soups that are on its menu. Next up, was a sandwich called The Downtowner, which the ownersaid has quickly become a fan favorite. Packed inside a ciabatta roll you?ll find ham, turkey, bacon, and melted provolonegraced with red onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and Dijon mustard. I found this ciabatta roll to be a little lighter and softerthan many. Some European ciabatta rolls tend to be a little too dense with too much ?chew? for a sandwich, but this wasexcellent. We finished with a weekly special?a sandwich cleverly named Asparageese, showcasing fresh local asparagus from Alex?sVeggies and paying homage to the geese who frequently show up in the canal. I must be honest, as a diehard carnivore, I wouldnot have otherwise ordered this. Exploding out of the rye bread, we discovered asparagus, red onion, roasted red pepper andmelted swiss cheese and a creamy dill dressing. At first bite, the rye bread and swiss had my taste buds saying ?Reuben,? butthen it took a delicious turn in a different direction. The sandwich burst with fresh flavors and savory notes. Next time youwant to try something new and delicious for lunch, check it out?I?m sure you?ll leave with a happy pooch. Read more

Recently opened in the building with the (locally) famous ?FOOD? sign out front, the Happy Poochie Eatery is a lunchtime place... serving sandwiches, soups, and salads. I?ve only been there twice so far, and had the same item both times. The Cool Hand Cukeis a fantastic take on the little rye bread/cream cheese/cucumber appetizers from holiday parties. Light, refreshing, yet I feltplenty full afterwards. It?s currently only serving pick-up due to COVID, however their service is excellent. You shoulddefinitely give them a try for lunch! Read more
