Houndstooth is worth the trip. We ran into others from Indy & a couple Michigan transplants. The server went through the... entire menu line by line before we ordered. They like you to order all at once but never making you feel rushed at all. Assome dishes were delivered by the kitchen reps each was explained & what to expect relative to flavor. I pictured in thisreview the menu to reference. We started off with the Sunflowers & Burrata. We loved it. No over the top flavor & the mildbalsamic flavor gave this just the best taste with the Burrata. The BBQ carrots were amazing. They were a little charredwithout a charred flavor. They were cooked very well & not a crunchy consistency at all. The Escargot was something I have nottried in decades. It was fabulous. I loved the tiny forks & finding the treats hidden in the shells. What made this best wasthe lemon, melted butter & caper flavor to compliment the flavor & consistency of the Escargot. The crunchy potatoes is the onedish they said is a regular as the menu changes from time to time. They were nice & crunchy with the right amount of softness onthe inside. The sauce was a small drizzle on top of a cream sauce. The picante was on the bottom. This allowed us to dish &drizzle the perfect amount. The picante had a little heat to it but not much. Maybe just a little less heat & flavor of aFrank’s Hot Sauce or similar (fyi it wasn’t actually Frank’s Hot Sauce). The Bread & Butter was a Japanese Milk Bread. Itmay look dry but has some cognac in it to moisten it up just right. The black garlic & chives on top made it fabulous. Cutfrom top to bottom & make sure each bite has the black garlic & chives. I had the slow steak which showed up blanketed in housechips with a drizzle of paprika powder. What a nice surprise to find the well cooked hanger steak. The vegetable marmaladedidn’t make or break this dish. I had half without it & it was wonderful as is. The marmalade was good as well but wo Read more

We were a party of 4 and sat on the back porch. The atmosphere was lovely. We ordered 4 small shares, 2 large shares, and 3... desserts. It was definitely enough to fill us up. The server was very considerate of our food allergies. He altered some of thefood so everyone could enjoy the food. The food was very tasty. The portions were smaller and expensive, but if you know thatgoing in, it's not so bad. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the meal. Read more

I don't know how this placed slipped under our radar for so long! Really incredible food, especially for this area!! We had 9... different dishes : sunflowers & burrata, short rib tartare, duck wings, BBQ carrots, paccheri, pork shop katsu, milk bread, crunchy potatoes, and sticky toffee pudding. All were delightful but the highlights for me were definitely the milk bread, duckwings, and pork chop. The service was great- this places loves a plate change! The server sent one dish at a time so we wereable to spend a good amount of time at the restaurant chatting and enjoying the food and drink. I would also recommend theirspring inspired old fashioned as well as the chocolate espresso martini which was not syrupy sweet like at many otherestablishments. We will definitely be coming back again and again, I’m especially excited to see how their menu changes as thesummer brings fresh produce Read more

This was some of the best food my wife and I have eaten in a long time. We wanted to go outside of our normal restaurants for... our anniversary and chose Houndstooth. The waiter explained all of the dishes perfectly and made them all sound so good that itwas hard to narrow them down. We ended up getting 6 different dishes and two desserts! Everything tasted amazing. We sat at thecounter and got to watch the bartender craft some amazing drinks that looked as good as they tasted. She was even very selectivewith the mint leaves to garnish the drinks with. If you are looking for a special night out with amazing food, Houndstooth isthe place to go. Read more

Houndstooth was A M A Z I N G. We decided to do a short getaway from Chicago to MI for our honeymoon, and my parents said we had... to go to Houndstooth. All their praise was completely true: the dining experience was beautiful and comfortable, the food wasoutstanding, the service was knowledgeable and friendly. Our server knew everything about the food, made superb recommendations, and checked on how we enjoyed every dish. We ate a lot! I forgot to take pictures of everything but we got the campechana, thecrunchy potatoes, steak tartare, slow steak, bread+butter, and black bean chicken. Everything was mind-blowing. I also got 2cocktails (snail mail and ex-pat sour) which were lovely, and my husband is 5 years sober and got 2 spirit-free cocktails hereally enjoyed (when in michigan and pinky up). It was great to have the spirit-free option and he liked that it wasn't justjuice and sparkling water. We also were gifted the ice cream sando by the chef to celebrate our wedding, which was very kind(and very delicious). The whole experience was fine-dining level food without stuffiness and with real appreciation of flavorand texture and intentional care and connection with customers, worth every cent. We already can't wait to make the trip outagain! Read more
