The service is outstanding! We had a great time at this lovely place. We tried the popular Parmigiano and Vasetto (chicken... liver), and we loved them. The pasta was good, but we weren't amazed. Would like to try the Spaghetti Neri and Calamari nexttime, and would recommend making a reservation before visiting. Read more

Really great food and love the ambience! We stumbled upon this restaurant in the evening and decided to give it a try. They have... tables outside with heat lamps (major plus) and the waiter immediately greeted us. I got the SPAGHETTI NERI (squid ink, calamari, garlic, Calabria spicy peppers, oven-dried Roma tomato, bottarga) and it was delicious! Need to like eating thingsfrom the sea to appreciate this dish, as it is flavorful. We also got the tomato appetizer, which was nutritious and delicious. And their homemade pizza and biscotti too. Left feeling satisfied. And happy to try a new great restaurant. Read more

Came here twice now, the steak was decent, perhaps a little more cooked than I was hoping but acceptable. The dessert was quite... good. Read more

I think this is the most a restaurant has ever profited off of me. It was way overpriced for the quality and portions that you... receive, even for Berkeley. The squid ink pasta literally tasted like boiled noodles I could make in my Berkeley stove from 1934that I also paid way too much for. I’m not even sure that there was a full mini octopus in my pasta that cost 24$ (+tax). Thesalad leaves were TOO BIG (as in not even sliced and as in bigger than the box the pasta came in). Furthermore, there were sofew leaves that you could fit them in your wallet (if your wallet was HUGE). I know it may be trendy to serve full leaf salads, but the bitter part was left on, and there was not enough sauce, croutons, or overpriced cheese to mask the taste. at least the5 croutons were good. The service and atmosphere at Donato and Co was wonderful. The food was delicious and quality as well. I was a bit confused by... the bruschetta, traditionally it's less of a sauce and more chunky with fresh tomatoes so that was a bit strange. I would havepreferred the more authentic style. The burrata saved it for me though because that combination was excellent. The Cacio e pepewas RICH! I guess I should know that. It was delicious nevertheless, but I might try something new next time with more veggies. The homemade spaghetti was perfectly Al dente. The fettuccine duck special, though really high quality, was missing an elementfor me. Perhaps tomato or a sauce to really tie it all together? The fresh pasta was delicious and the duck was cookedperfectly. Overall, it was just a little one note. All-in-all, the quality and the service cannot be beat. I'll have to give itanother try to see what else that have to offer. ???? Another note: please turn the lighting down. It was so bright in there.Gave off a strange vibe. Mood lighting is best. Love their food. I went to this restaurant with my Italian bf and he seemed to be quite satisfied with the food. Also the server... seems to be knowledgeable about their food. I loved the way she explained today's special to us. Read more

So yummy! The ricotta, pork chop, and vanilla creme dessert are ???? Staff is warm and courteous. They have lots of gluten free... options (surprising for an Italian restaurant - I know!), and their chef was #1 for gluten free in Italy. I'm eagerly awaitingthe gluten free version of their chocolate hazelnut cake ???? And they're great about social distancing! We called aboutgetting 2 tables 6ft apart so we could see friends who aren't in our bubble for dinner, and they kindly accommodated us. Read more
