The Modern Barn was an excellent surprise! My daughter and I have been traveling the north east for over a week and stumbled... upon Modern Barn as we passed through Bethel, Maine. Wow, we're we impressed! Dinner was fantastic! She had chicken and I hadhaddock. This was by far the best meal we've had on our trip so far. The wine list was overwhelming in the best way. When a restaurant is asking for reservations when they are not full my wife and I were puzzled. The whole time we ate they were... not full. But we were kindly persuaded to eat in the bar area. My post will have picks to show you I did not order soup like mywife said I did. I had hadlock linguini. Never ever again. My wife had the chicken sandwich with bacon. It was spot on. Thefries....no. We had an amazing dinner at the Modern Barn. The owner came out to give us wine recommendations and the wait staff (Heather) was... patient and kind for our big group. The food did not disappoint - the Pig Chop (apparently back by popular demand) was a huge,delicious portion and the charcuterie board was large and delicious! They were able to accommodate all our dietary needs aswell, including vegans and vegetarians. We would highly recommend the Modern Barn to anyone visiting the Bethel/Newry area! Read more
Visited from out of town. Very cute and unique location! Food was delicious and presented beautifully. Food was worth the price.... Great menu variety. You can tell they've had to make changes because of the pandemic and supply chains, but they make it workand it was a very good experience for dinner! Read more
Yum cauliflower bites. Fun beers and extensive wine list. The bartender was super helpful and fun telling us about her recent... snowboarding trip. The building aesthetics were cute and parking ample. Tucked away a little but great location. Read more
My partner and I just ate there the other night. Great atmosphere and an incredible wine selection, both red and white- a better... selection than you will find in any other restaurant within a 30 minute drive, at the least. The meat and cheese board was good,but I wish it came with a little more for the price. Overall I enjoyed my time and will be back again in the future! Read more
We soon found out there are not many places to eat around here, so we came here. Food was good, not special. This placed is... priced for fine dining. It's NOT fine dining. Putting protein on top of potatoes or veggies doesn't make you look like a chef. Atmosphere looks like a sports bar that has been redecorated with wine bottles. No tablecloths. Staff was couteous. $12 for aglass of common wine. Ridiculous. Good luck. Read more
