Last weekend, I had dinner Montgomery Mall's California Pizza Kitchen (CPK), with a friend. CPK's service was OK, but there... were times we felt neglected by the waitstaff. For extra fun, the waitstaff dropped three or four plates; each created apiercing sound as they shattered on the floor. Glad I had worn boots & not open-toed shoes! My past California Pizza Kitchendining experiences featured generous portions of every food on the menu. Previously, I appreciated larger food amounts that weregreat for sharing with dining partners or for eating lunch, the next day. The spaghetti with marinara entree came with theoption adding various proteins: shrimp & chicken. Unfortunately, the add-on chicken portion was small, about half the size of astandard deck of playing cards. The marinara over spaghetti tasted fine, but was not spectacular. CPK didn't meet its pastentree quality with this dish. For an appetizer, we split the chicken peanut salad & opted out of the chicken. Unfortunately,we didn't receive any discount for the omitted protein. Considering the entree's tiny chicken portion accompanying thespaghetti, paying for food we didn't receive was somewhat vexing. Anyway, the peanut salad was crunchy, tasty and fun. Dessertwas the size-challenged, barely sharable chocolate souffle. That said, a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and a dollop ofwhipped cream helped CPK to normalize the dessert's diminutive size. Another dessert bonus: the chocolate souffles are usuallymade with food-service grade chocolate that's always above standard. As far as I am concerned, any amount of chocolate is a giftfrom God. However, at the end of the day, more chocolate is better than less chocolate. The CPK meal's winner was the winelist. Great varietals from an array of regions. Best of all, wines by the glass have three different size options! One caveat:the smallest wine offering was nearly $11. Bread is one of my great loves, in life. Carbs rule the day, I say. Tasty pizza. My burger was perfect. Server was mostly efficient except for refills and he never smiled once but was still kind... overall and friendly. Would highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner; small or large gatherings Read more

Walked in and was not greeted. Two workers were chatting and laughing and didn’t acknowledge us. When the third tried to... take our name and number, she could not hear over her two colleagues. I wouldn’t have thought too much about it, justhorrible customer service, however when the one worker who was kind enough to acknowledge our presence walked around the hostessstand so she could hear us told the other to be quiet, they laughed at her and continued talking. The way they treated theircolleague was appalling and I regret walking out and not asking for the manager there and then. They lost our business. Shocking and disgusted that this is how workers treat each other. We can do better. Read more

Not the best CPK. The service is slow. The cleanliness is abysmal. The food isn’t as delicious as the other branches.

Food was top tier! I love their Thai Chicken Pizza, BBQ Chicken Pizza, and Avocado Egg Rolls (and both dipping sauces)! Also,... their bread was really soft and fresh. My only complaint is slow service and a long wait, but it’s compensated by the factthat they let us order a kids meal sized pizza :) Read more

Very nice experience with the CPK. We went on a Sunday afternoon and got a table immediately. Our water Nel was good and we did... not have to wait long at all for our drinks or food. They have plenty of gluten free options which was nice, there’s even alittle stick that comes on the food indicating it was gluten free. Menu was pretty good, I just stuck with the pizza. By nomeans was it the best pizza I’ve ever had but it was still quite good. Read more

I have never been here before. I was pleasantly surprised when we were greeted at the front. The hostess went out of her way to... give us a booth that we wanted. Unfortunately when I sat down in the booth I almost hit my chin on the table. This locationdefinitely needs a face lift. California, you are recognized as being flaky and like to show off. What happened to you. Let’stalk about the food and the service. The spicy Buffalo Cauliflower appetizer was superb. I had no idea they ate cauliflowerduring the Tang Dynasty. The explosive flavor gave me a heavenly roller coaster ride. For our main course we ordered the ShrimpScampi Zucchini Pasta and the California Cobb Salad. Both entrees were delicious. The Shrimp Scampi had just the right amount ofgarlic with perfectly sautéed zucchini and pasta. Wow! To our surprise, CPK is running a promotion of “Take and BakePizzas.” With every dine-in order, you can purchase any one of their pizzas to take home and bake when you want, for only $5.We have tried our Take and Bake Pizzas and they were fantastic. Our waiter, Thinh, was wonderful. He knew the menu , wasattentive, and was very polite. What a pleasure he was. CPK you can’t milk the same cow for so many years. With more peoplestarting to go out to dine, you might want to consider giving yourself a fresh look. You will be surprised how much your dinerswill appreciate that. A fresh crisp look after being shut-in this past year. You have a great staff and food. As your formerGovernor has said, “I will be back.” Read more
