This was our first time at José Andreas‘s Spanish Diner, and we are definitely now going to be return customers. We love... José‘s restaurants because of his creativity, excellent food and generous philanthropy. The decor was really fun and relaxed,with upscale food and drink presentations, incredible flavors and choices of both small plates and regular entrées, along withexcellent service. We were fans of José’s Jaleo restaurant at this location, but had not been back since the renovations asSpanish Diner. Eggs on French fries?!? OMG, YES!!!!! Update: I go almost every Sunday now. The traditional Spanish Tortilla with potatoes is... really amazing. It looks small but I still never can finish it even though it's so great. I love to get a side of avocado withit. Read more
Popped in on a rainy Sunday expecting the spot to be slow hoping that service would be quick. The restaurant wasn't even half... full yet service was extremely slow. I waited nearly 20 minutes before being asked if I wanted water. The food was just off..and honestly it is overpriced. If the concept is tapas well tapas are supposed to be affordable. I ordered a cup of gazpacho,literally a cups worth of soup maybe even less for $6. I appreciate our waitress because she knew the menu well enough to helpus navigate it. Our group has many allergies and the allergen menu was extremely helpful. However my gazpacho had croutons in itafter I mentioned that I could not consume gluten. Problem averted as I just scooped them out. Overall we were not pleased withthe food at all. There seemed to be an issue in the kitchen as our food came out luke warm. The potatoes and fries were soggy(McDonald's has better fries) and a steak that was ordered was cold and hard. We ordered a tea which was $5 and took a very longtime to come out. I think it was forgotten about because it wasn't hot when we got it. We ordered a few drinks which also justtook such a long time. When our food finally arrived so much time elapsed we completely forgot what we ordered. We returned thesteak dish and left to eat at Silver. I'm giving two stars because our waitress was very kind otherwise I would give 1 star. Read more
It was pretty good, wish the music wasn't blaring, i liked their french toast it was very soft and creamy. I enjoyed their fried... cod with manchego. Later tried flan for the first time that was great also! It's reasonably priced nothing too extreme. Read more
It is a tapas place, from outside it looks good, the vibe and atmosphere is good. They have all day happy hour which is only a... couple dollars less than their regular price. The food is not really tasty or anything special. I’ve been here before (sameowner I think) before they change it to Spanish Diner, it was much better then. Read more
I stopped by for some warm tea and dessert. I really enjoyed the mint tea, it was so refreshing in the cold weather, paired with... the flan. It was a perfect combination for a light evening bite. The service was very friendly and quick. The ambience gives afeel good atmosphere. Highly recommended in Bethesda. Read more
Overall was very disappointed. Definitely not on par with Jaleo or Zathynia. Order some of the recommended dishes and honestly... nothing stood out as great. Food wasn't bad but also not anything I would recommend to someone else. Also for what we receivedthis was a very expensive lunch. Most of the dishes seems extremely overpriced. Stopped in for a late afternoon lunch and greeted unenthusiastically by a bore hostess. It only got better from there. First... time visit and excited to review menu which offered all day breakfast and a variety of entrees and smaller plates. Was hopingto try the soup special but learned it was sold out after ordering, and wished our waitress knew in advance. Everything wetried was delicious! Price points all trend high for a "diner" including $5 for an iced tea. All in spent over $110+ for lunchfor two that did not include alcohol. Read more
