I was in town for a conference and stopped here for brunch. Our coffee was cold when we ordered but our very kind waitress made... sure to correct it. I didn't love the sausage balls. Food is good. We chose to eat outside and they accommodated a large party of 15 during lunch hours on a Saturday. We had called... for reservations ahead of time. Wine was okay. The loaded fries and the fried green tomatoes are the best items on the menu!Amazing. Read more
I have been twice both horrible experiences! They have great service but terrible cook times and Food quality! I have more than... 3 friends they all had the same experience; get this we are all service industry workers and experience Common house atdifferent times. All on a Sunday! My server tells me" If you come on a week day it is much better". Our food wait was over 30minutes plus. Also when asked if the food was good more than once because I liked our server I did not say a word. Then when hethey asked me finally nothing changed! Our server could have been the issue; but he was busy with other tables. I not sure whatis going on but I do know I would never recommend this place to anyone. I would rather eat a food truck. Disappointing. One of the drinks and appetizer never came. Oops, server said she forgot to put it in. We got it and then when it... came time for the entrees, one entree was wrong. Everyone has finished their meal and the correct entree still hasn?t arrived.We cancelled one of the appetizers since it still hadn?t come when entrees were being served. Disappointing to have issues withfour items not being served on time, not entered in, and/or not keyed in correctly. None of them were taken off the check(except for the one appetizer we cancelled when it never came). 20% tip auto added for parties of 5 or more, which was just anadded kicker to the poor service (why is a party of 5 considered a big party??). For the most part, all food was good, though.This was my first and last visit. Disappointing that a party of 5 is considered a large party and 20% tip added for poorservice. No refill given on tea. When you manage to screw up and delay 4 items, for goodness sake, comp one of them, or all ofthe messed up items! Very expensive meal for such poor service. Read more
It was our first time there. Service was great. Food excellent. We had the fried green tomatoes, grilled ceaser salad and the... grilled salmon. Love watching the cooks enjoying their jobs. Definitely will be returning. Read more
Absolutely the best shrimp and grits! It's a must have. Also, the fries are perfect! Tender on the inside, and a nice crunchy... outside. The service is excellent. The staff is super friendly. This place is the example of what a real neighborhood restaurantshould be. Can't wait to return. Looking forward to getting the burger next time. Read more
Parking lot was packed, but inside was not. We ordered, and waited, and waited, and waited for two Common Burgers with bacon and... cheese. So far ever burger served up has been snatched up and delivered to other patrons. After an hour we are finally servedour food. The burgers were larger than expected and tasty. The fries were the best along with the pink lemonade. So, foodexcellent, Dining room a tad breezy, service lacking! Being an older couple, perhaps we aren't their target audience. This isour second time to dine at the Avondale Common House, our first visit was better. Read more
