Very cute place. The food was nicely priced and a decent variety. Staff was great too! My omelette was yummy and the potatoes... were good even tho they ran out of ketchup ????. Only thing I can think of is that the bathroom seemed very messy. There was alot going on in there. ???? Read more

We decided to visit the Mad Hatter even though many of the reviews were poor. I am so glad that we did. I will agree the place... could use some updating but it was still nice. It is eccentric it is not your typical fancy high tea. The food was deliciousand that it most important for me. The tea was bagged but the Teavanna brand and quite good. The scones were warm and some ofthe best I've had. The sandwiches were surprisingly fantastic. Really nice smoked salmon. Plus it is not as pricey as mosthigh tea. Our server was super sweet as well. It was not the typical high tea but we had a very nice time. Read more

I do not recommend. Everything is filthy, covered in dust- from the decor, restrooms, and visible kitchen. Cobwebs on the... chandelier above my table could have fell at any moment. The food was mediocre- I sent it back to get potatoes. Read more

Came here today for afternoon tea. Booked online to indicate daughter's birthday and afternoon tea and also called to confirm... the afternoon tea for our reservation made weeks ahead. Called again yesterday to triple confirm. Was very surprised when toldwe hadn't informed them and/or they may not accommodate. It was really uncomfortable. The gentleman was very nice and aftersome time advised they would let us do afternoon tea for 4. We paid $100 for a tiny snack shared between 4 people on a 3 tieredstack. It included a scone cut in 4 pieces, a small plate of mini desserts, a handful of fruit and cheese cubes, and exactly 7quarters of stale bland sandwiches (equivalent of 1.75 sandwiches). What we got looked like enough for 1 adult.. was reallyunreasonable how this can be acceptable at all. Have had brunch here before and it was tasty and thought we'd try tea for thisspecial occasion. Never again. It was so disappointing and food stale/old or too sweet. 0 stars for food quality, quantityand restaurant organization. Service from our server was good, hence the 2 stars here Read more

Cute place and fairly small. Fantastic service. Our food was tasty but could've been warmer. They are serving 'tea parties'... again but make sure you make a reservation. We called ahead and were told we didn't need reservations for our tea party but oncewe got there we discovered we were misinformed on the phone. It's located in downtown Birmingham so you can stroll the streetand browse other stores after your meal. Read more

Unique ambiance, seemed a bit small and cramped. The server seemed to not be interested in our table. We had to ask for numerous... things twice and she didn't check if we needed anything after we got our food. All our breakfasts were good but we would haveliked a refill on drinks or some hot sauce for our omellettes. All in all the food was good but nothing to rave about. Servicewas definitely lacking. It didn't seem like they were understaffed. We were one of about 4 tables as we got there when theyfirst opened (had a reservation for 4 @11am). It's one of those places that you try once and you don't really recommend or goback to. Just my opinion. Read more
