Black Mountain is a great, almost hidden getaway along the Blue Ridge mountains. The Monte Vista Hotel offers a very personal... lodging experience with old restored rooms sans TVs. Milton’s is located in the hotel adjacent to the lobby and bar area. Weeat at Milton’s whenever we’re staying at MV and this restaurant is really impressive. The menu is always updated andchanges with the seasons to focus on fresh local ingredients. We usually order a few small plates and share entrees. The MixedMushroom Toast and Appalachian Grilled Shrimp are our favorites appetizers. Our favorite entrees are the Fresh Catch of the Day,Sunburst Farms Trout, Fried Chicken and Grilled Hangar Steak (please note steak cuts can change so check the menu online). Fordessert, if the Bourbon Bread Pudding is on the menu, grab it. It’s fantastic. The Four-Layer Carrot Cake is also solid. Thewine list is good and covers all areas and cocktails contain original and classic combos and are well made. Service is good. It’s a team effort here so the person checking you in at the front desk and/or the bartender may end up pitching in duringservice. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating for warmer months. Parking is super easy in the hotel lot. There aren’t alot of high end restaurants in Black Mountain and Milton’s is a great option if you’re looking for a laid back, approachableyet refined experience. Read more

We were staying at the Monte Vista for a couple of nights for my birthday and decided to try Milton’s in the hotel. What a... treat! We all ordered different entrees, trout, salmon, sirloin, and fried chicken, they were all amazing. The hostess wasvery nice and accommodating. Great meal, can’t wait to go back. Read more

The host was very nice and went out of her way to get us a special table since we were celebrating. The service was good. The... food was spectacular. Mushroom toast was life changing. the cocktails took a long time but were worth the wait. The sirloin wascooked to perfection with the perfect accompaniments. 10/10 meal. Would absolutely dine here again. Read more

We went here for Thanksgiving dinner one year, and it was very good, no hassle. Definitely more of a fine dining experience. ... The hotel itself is beautiful and would be a nice locale for a wedding or maybe a reunion of some kind. If you have the money,it is definitely worth a visit. Read more

We ordered takeout twice from Milton's (love the easy online portal) because we were traveling with a baby and wanted nice food... but couldn't really do a nicer dinner out. Milton's had great presentation even in takeout containers, the food was reallydelicious (tried the shrimp and grits, the steak, the fried chicken, pecan pie and the chocolate torte). The only thing I wouldskip is the burrata salad. The staff was super friendly when I waited at the bar for our order to be ready. Highly recommend! Read more

Extremely disappointed. We made reservations a week in advanced and got a voicemail a few hours before our meal letting us know... the only food they would be serving is burgers and apps. It was cold, rainy, and way too late to make reservations elsewhere.Cocktails and service were good but I don’t eat burgers (real or fake meat) and finding out how limited the menu would be atthe last minute was disappointing. Burgers as your only entree? At a “smart casual” restaurant? I understand being shortstaffed but the single food options available were poor. I had alcohol for dinner. Read more
