Crab Rangoons tasted like fried cardboard, the cheese filling was more flaky than creamy, almost as if they were frozen. Their... egg-foo-young sauce didn't seem fresh / made to order either. But some of their Filipino dishes are really good. But that'sabout it. Read more

I write this with great regret. I have enjoyed grand cafe since the early 70's. I understand change and needing to adapt to deal... with circumstances. Despite changes, my hope was still high, I didn't want to let go. But as of today it is now officially tome a completely different product. For those new customers that have never experienced The original flavors of their food.Sadly you never will now. I don't even want to speculate on why this has happened. But I will now accept and just moveon. Cheers to all those left that know and remember. Read more

Fiancé called wanting to get Chinese food tonight and wanted to get a townie favorite, Grand Cafe?what a treat! We?ve gone in... restaurant before but this was our first time carrying out. Immediately upon cracking open the box my orange chicken was sealedaway in, I knew something was off. The sauce was an atomic orange and looked like jello that was beginning to set. Nevertheless,I took a bite. The flavor was okay but the texture?I will never forget. Perhaps the takeout box worked more like a sauna andmade all the contents melt together into an unpleasant mush. Like I said, flavor was okay! But?couldn?t eat much because Icouldn?t get over how mushy it was. The vegetable fried rice we ordered was not vegetable unless pork is considered a vegetable. This was very disappointing for my vegetarian fiancé. Even more disappointing was the vegetable sub gum that was once a beaconof light in his memory, was now a lightbulb on the cusp of burning out. An overall disappointment. And to add insult to injury,we only got one, cracked fortune cookie. Read more

A MUST TRY? Amazing Filipino spot with delicious selections! I was so happy to find this spot along my trip! All the food... servings are enough to feed at least two people! Finally found a Filipino restaurant that serves crispy fried chicken skin?itwas yummy! The kare-kare was creamy and full of ingredients?they definitely don?t skimp out! And ohhmyygoodness, the pork bbqwas the highlight of my meal?it was fully cooked but still juicy and NOT OVERCOOKED! It was cooked in open-flame(I even orderedmore to-go cuz it was soooo good) ???????????? Read more

I have been a Customer of the Grand Cafe for many Years... going back to the early 1980's when it was located just West of the... Scottish Rite Consistent in Bloomington. Although no longer located there, the Spirit continues at it's current location in theOakland Commons. Much has changed, but the Grand Cafe is yet a Mysterious and Magical place... still as it was before! I hopethat you partake of the Fine Food and the Spirit of the Grand Cafe... ... and You never know, maybe one day I might see Youthere, too! Bruno Biava ? Read more
