This was my first visit to Wild Root. Unfortunately overall it didn't live up to the expectations. The dishes look and smell... fantastic, however the taste was off and many components didn't taste fresh. The potatos included with the seared Ahi Tuna weredefinitely not and the chicken added to the Risotto dish tasted off, as if had been cooked in the same pan as fish. Overall Iwas not thrilled with any of the three dishes ordered. The cocktails were tasty ("Lavender Daydream" and the "Fog Lifter") butnot large and on the expensive side at around $15 each. The staff were friendly and seemed reasonably well informed on themenu, however they were not super present, were distracted on their cell phones behind the bar, and didn't say anything when wewent to leave. I remember visiting Wild Root several years ago and leaving as a fan. Their menu has changed a little over the years. I wanted... to try their dinner selections so I made reservations online for two. My expectations were high. Unfortunately, Wild Rootdidn’t quite live up to the hype. My husband and I started with a Chamomille Julep (Bulleit rye, muddled mint, chamomillehoney, crushed ice and angostura bitters, $16.00) and Lavender Daydream (Empress 1908 gin, house lavender syrup, lavenderbitters, Lillet Blanc, aquafaba, lemon juice and lavender flowers, $15.00), respectively. My husband’s drink was nothing buta splash of rye engulfed in a pile of ice. It didn’t taste like anything special, it might as well have been on the rocks(more like boulders). He was unimpressed as I was with my lavender concoction. Not only was it super sour, but it hardly tastedlike lavender which was a shock considering how much of it went into the drink according to the menu. I didn’t even want tofinish it. After the disappointing drinks I was really hoping the food would come in clutch. However, it fell way short of whatI expected. My husband ordered the Garden Pasta (zucchini noodles, garlic, sautéed seasonal vegetables, micro greens and toast,$18.00). He didn’t mind his dish too much but found it unimpressive. It was rather bland and the portion size was extremelytiny. I had a couple bites and liked the tenderness of the noodles but other than that the dish doesn’t really have much goingfor it. My dish was the Summer Risotto (creamy risotto, asparagus, artichoke hearts, parmesan, confit garlic, kale, blueberries, lemon zest, smoked salt and micro greens, $20.00) with a salmon filet (+$10.00). It started out okay, but as I atemy way through I found way too many artichoke hearts for my liking. Like it was full of them. Additionally, the more I ate, themore I found myself disliking the flavor more and more. I just don’t think the ingredients blended well together. The bluebe Read more

Wow this was so yummy. we did not expect this much flavor from such healthy food, but it was probably the yummiest food we had... in all of Boise. We were really impressed. The location is also great. If you sit out on the patio you can do some nice peoplewatching. Read more

Exceptionally good food. Very knowledgeable staff with regard to dietary restrictions and allergies. Highly priced, but totally... worth it. Unique drink options, I tried the Sawtooth. So good! 10/10. Read more

Delicious food. Started on with the heirloom tomato and garlic on sourdough. Very garlicky and incredibly tasty. I ordered the... braised short rib which was delicious and tender. The reduction was amazing and so was the pureed celery root. My friend orderedthe ahi tuna which she said was very good but a little salty. Read more

It was amazing. I got 2 eggs and a hash and every single bite was delicious. And meatless! My husband loved his ciabatta toast... but said his steak and hash were under seasoned. It’s the kind of restaurant where I’m poking around trying to figure outhow to replicate it cause it’s so good. Read more

All brunch, all the time. What's not to like? They also have full-bar cocktails (which is an evolution for this space). My... go-to here is the steak and eggs, but everything I've tried is good (french toast is #2, yummy Acme local bread). The prices area bit high in a relative sense, but it's downtown, and the quality is also there. Coffee drinks/espresso are alsogood. Service is attentive, and there is outside patio seating when it isn't cold. Read more
