Situated in the busy district of Back Bay next to the Amtrak station, Douzo sushi serves clients of many demographics. Friendly... staff, responsible management, and cozy ambiance, it’s a great setting for business meal or family gatherings. GM Eugene andMgr. Ton were very professional and took patron’s feedback seriously, evidence of a well-run restaurant. The dishpresentation was very nicely done, especially the Douzo tasting boat, and the uni bowl was very very fresh, worth the price.Unagi rice was sweet and tender, great choice for lunch. Lunch bento box was very reasonably priced with enough quantity toserve one person. We went for a birthday celebration and were surprised to receive a complimentary chocolate fondue desert forthe birthday. Overall, Douzo is definitely a candidate for repeated visits. Read more

Slightly upscale sushi spot with great Japanese tapas and decent sushi. My friend and I recently took a visit hoping to find... another good sushi spot in the Back Bay area. With modern interiors and the menu featuring a variety of Japanese small bites, this place initially reminded me of Uni on Mass Ave. We started off with some bites, and the creamy and umami finish of the unishot and the buttery texture of the XO toro were particularly memorable. However, other dishes ended up being just okay for theprice. The sushi was also a bit of a letdown. None of the sushi pieces stood out as impressive, and the overall quality of thesushi from the Chef’s selection wasn’t too different from that of typical neighborhood sushi places. Nevertheless, Douzo isstill a decent option whether you’re looking for a casual or a romantic sushi spot. The regular sushi selections may not bethe best option, but some of their small bites are good enough to make the meal special. Read more

Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Sat at the bar and the bartender was surely fun to chat with. Food quality is great and... prices are fair for the quantity/quality ratio. Salad and sushi expect to spend around 50+$ and add to it 10-15$/cocktail. Ihighly recommend this restaurant! Read more

A years-standing date-worthy Japanese bistro perfect for presentable meet-ups with people you sort of know but not really know... of. You’ll get to enjoy a decent, lightly boozed conversation and delicious Japanese food catered to the educatedupper-middle class in a sophisticated yet still relatable environment. This restaurant miraculously resolves the dichotomybetween formal v. casual, business v. personal, and fancy v. reasonable. After paying three visits this place spread over adecade, I wish it continues to flourish and serves the Back Bay audience to the same high standard it has always had. Read more

Our experience started with reservations. We had originally placed a reservation for 5 people but last minuet had to change it... to a table for 6. We called and let them know the day of. They were able to make this modification for us over the phone but letus know we could only dine for 2 hours maximum. I understand the time cap for adding an additional person last minuet, but Ididn't like feeling that we might have to rush our dinning experience beforehand. We parked in the parking garage next to therestaurant. Something cool that they do is validate parking for 3 hours but only if you park after 5pm. This was not advertisedon their website, it was just on a poster at the door. We parked at the parking lot only to go to this restaurant and arrived at4:45, we asked for validation on our way out and they said they wouldn't do it because it wasn't exactly after 5. I understandthat we were not there exactly at 5 but we got to our reservation early. That was a pretty disappointing experience because wewould have parked after 5 if we knew ahead of time. They were quick to seat us even though we arrived early and the service wasvery fast and efficient which was very nice. Our waitress was kind and knowledgably about the menu and was very willing toanswer any questions we had. The food is expensive for what it is. All the food had great flavors, I didn't dislike anything weordered. But, it didn't taste very much different from other medium grade sushi restaurants I had been too. I thought I wasgoing to be blown away because word of mouth is that this is the best place to get sushi in Boston. In the end, its just a goodsushi restaurant with inflated prices. All in all, I would not go back to Douzo but I am glad that I finally got to try it. Read more
