The sushi rolls tasted awful. Who puts smoked salmon into a roll...? The rice is gluggy, wet, the whole roll tasted mushy. I... don't know what I was eating and it costs about $20 after tax. I don't know what all the 5 star reviews were for. This isdefinitely not good japanese. Maybe some of the items are passable. I'm very disappointed. Also the waitress has terribleattitude. Ask her what sushi of the day was, she said it's random. Ask her if she can go ask the chef, she just stand there andstare at me and say it's random.... Usually at proper Japanese restaurants they will always go check for you. I really don'tlike this place. Read more

Update: After two years of enjoying take-out from Hamachi Sushi, we went there for dinner on our wedding anniversary. Chef Danh... welcomed us as we sat at the sushi bar and offered us the chef's selection dinner. What followed was an extraordinary evening ofastonishing plates with the best possible sashimi and rolls that culminated with the delicious and astounding plate picturedhere. Everything was personalized and the chef and staff were so pleasant and attentive that they offered us an unforgettableexperience. This is absolutely the best sushi we've ever had, and the atmosphere they created was on par. Thank you, chef Danhand everyone, for a superb anniversary! No matter where you live in Montreal, or if you're visiting, you should absolutely putHamachi Sushi on your dining list. *** This might be the best sushi we've ever had, and we love sushi.
