The sushi rolls tasted awful. Who puts smoked salmon into a roll...? The rice is gluggy, wet, the whole roll tasted mushy. I... don't know what I was eating and it costs about $20 after tax. I don't know what all the 5 star reviews were for. This isdefinitely not good japanese. Maybe some of the items are passable. I'm very disappointed. Also the waitress has terribleattitude. Ask her what sushi of the day was, she said it's random. Ask her if she can go ask the chef, she just stand there andstare at me and say it's random.... Usually at proper Japanese restaurants they will always go check for you. I really don'tlike this place. Read more

Update: After two years of enjoying take-out from Hamachi Sushi, we went there for dinner on our wedding anniversary. Chef Danh... welcomed us as we sat at the sushi bar and offered us the chef's selection dinner. What followed was an extraordinary evening ofastonishing plates with the best possible sashimi and rolls that culminated with the delicious and astounding plate picturedhere. Everything was personalized and the chef and staff were so pleasant and attentive that they offered us an unforgettableexperience. This is absolutely the best sushi we've ever had, and the atmosphere they created was on par. Thank you, chef Danhand everyone, for a superb anniversary! No matter where you live in Montreal, or if you're visiting, you should absolutely putHamachi Sushi on your dining list. *** This might be the best sushi we've ever had, and we love sushi. There isn't a roll thatwe've tried yet that doesn't make us praise the chefs. The order is always ready on time, although in these times it would beunderstandable if it took longer. Hamachi is my favourite Sushi restaurant in the entire Quebec. I think this says it all =) It?s a Japanese restaurant. The staff... are super kind. The variety of the sushi you can eat here is fantastic. Everything at Hamachi is fresh? to the point that Isuspect they have a back garden ???? Unique taste? found nowhere else? maybe only in New York and Tokyo. Definitely worth aweekend lunch or dinner! Read more

No words to describe AMAZING! from beginning til end! Food - the food is overall great!pricey but very good portion, the... flavours are just melting and blasting in your mouth, very tasty sushis, sashimis, it?s not mediocre sushi, superdelicious! Place - small cozy place, few tables, clean, well kept, nice decor Service - they gave us warm moist towels to cleanour hands, super fast that food was served right away in a couple of minutes, really nice people would have been great if it wasunlimited sushi cause it was so delicious! Amazing food, but the service was poor and since dishes aren't neither explained or served to the right person ended up making... us pay twice for the same dishes (due to dishes being served to the wrong people). Unfortunately this mistake ruined theexperience for us and I wouldn't expect this kind of mistakes at this price point. Otherwise great food. Read more
