The one thing I love most is when a restaurant goes all-in, and the Hungry Toad does it masterfully. Everything is designed to... immerse you in the feeling of being in a genuine British pub - the brick interior, the embossed tile ceiling, the wall art, thefood, and the beer. Even the stools and bartop are reminiscent of a storied English pub. Half of the beer is authentically fromthe isle, including one from a cask-conditioned pump system. I couldn't be happier that a self-proclaimed pub actually feelslike one. Read more

We dine there often. The food and ambiance are excellent. The chef, Carlos, has moved the menu from bar food to epicurean... without changing the names on the list. The staff are pleasant and personable. The new owners have spent great effortrefurbishing the entire restaurant. New kitchen and appliances, new coolers for both food and kegs. They have created a Britishpub environment with lit outside dining adjoining the pub and a carpeted beer garden behind the pub. Most noticeable of all isit is a neighborhood place with a warmth like that of old friends. Any time we spend there is time well spent. Read more

"The Toad" is our favorite restaurant. Such a warm family-friendly environment, great staff, yummy food with easy, free parking!... We're loving their "proper British" brunch menu on the weekends and excited about the new dog-friendly beer garden addition inthe back. Long live The Toad! Read more

The Toad deserves five stars on the basis of endurance alone having held down the SW corner of Broadway and North Street for... over 30 years while other restaurant locations in the neighborhood have turned over several times. It has also survived theclosing of the nearby Boulder Community Hospital's Broadway location of many decades. The place riffs off of the traditionalEnglish public house both in decor and food and beverage offerings. The selection of beers on draft is excellent including gemssuch as Old Speckled Hen. And in addition to a very good selection of hot sandwiches, burgers and much else, pub food stapleslike fish and chips are on offer. (Highly recommend that one.) Unlike a real pub, however, there is table service! Read more

This is one of those places that has the feel of a local?s spot. The Hungry Toad is a neighborhood favorite and is in a great... location just north of Pearl St. Portions are enormous, so my husband and I split the fish and chips which was delicious andmore than enough food. (They were awesome and split the dish for us, something we truly appreciate since some restaurants chargefor that.) Service was decent, but could have been better. There seemed to be more people walking around checking on things thandoing things. I completely understand everyone being short staffed these days, but in this case it seemed like things weren?tquite aligned. Read more

Has been a local favorite for ever! I used to live a couple blocks away and it was the local neighborhood pub that had great... food. From several beers on tap to a nice sized menu there is something for everyone. My go to burger is the dirty burger loadedwith a bunch of yummy toppings. Can?t speak highly enough of this institution of a restaurant. Check them out! Read more
