Perfect Northwoods restaurant! I really loved the muskie and other fish displayed. Service was outstanding despite only one... server. I had the Black Forest Snitzle (sp?) My parents had the beef Wellington both very good. Must trys are the baked FrenchOnion, muscles appetizer and the bacon vinegarette dressing. Enjoy! Read more

Our favorite "high end" restaurant in vila's county. A little had to get into (plan ahead for reservations) but it's an amazing... place. Impeccable service... And the walleye is the best I've ever had (and I'm from Northern Minnesota). We've never done theappitzers because between the liver pate/cracker/veggie and the bread we would be too full to enjoy the walleye. I put quotesaround high end... If you are from the Chicago suburbs $100 for two dinners with wine is a very good deal. Got 4 stars onlybecause my wife thinks they should update the decor, and they have a strong veal offering (I've seen how veal is raised andwon't touch it) me I think it's perfect north woods. Try the guides inn you will not be disappointed Try i Read more

We didn't actually get the opportunity to eat as they were done serving dinner. We did stop at the bar and Tim greeted us with... the kind of hospitality you don't encounter nearly enough these days. We enjoyed a nice cold beer while drooling over the smellsstill coming from the kitchen. The menu had so many delightful choices that I'd of had a tough time choosing. The price washigher on some entrees than we are used to, but we've been assured it's well worth it! We plan to make reservations ahead oftime the next time we are coming to the area!! Read more

We are from out of town and they said they can take a walk in for us in 7 minutes a table would open. 30 minutes later they said... ?oops we forgot to take your name we don?t have a table for you?. They still charge us full price for beers while we waited forthat table that was not going to happen for their mistake. Not making up for not putting us on the list like they said theywould. So hungry and restaurants close early around here so had to book it to another place that seated us right away. Read more

Outstanding meal and excellent service. Chef Jimmy Dean and Staff made sure we had another delicious meal? we had the German... potato salad soup (must try!), my husband was pleased with the pan-fried perch, & my Veal Florentine was the best ever. Toppedit off with Chef Jimmy Dean?s homemade vanilla ice cream. This has been our favorite Northwoods restaurant for nearly 30 years.Love the supper club atmosphere and the welcoming attention we receive here. Read more

Brilliant. Absolutely Brilliant. To not work this place into your itinerary as part of your visit to the Northwoods would be... a huge miss. The food, service, ambiance is top shelf. Imagine a 5 star restaurant in any major city only transported to theNorthwoods- and that is the Guides Inn. A clubby feel, where everyone is allowed to join - with food fit to serve a King. Thechef comes out and chats with the guests and you will not leave hungry. Read more
