My family has been a loyal customer of Darbar for a long time and that will not be changing any time soon! The staff always... makes you feel welcome and are open to answering any questions you may have. I?ve tried all sorts of different meals at thisestablishments and each dish is beyond flavorful. My favorite dish is the lamb korma, extra spicy! Garlic nan is always a mustand each visit I try a new cocktail. We love the new establishment and are excited for their new chapter. We will be back soonto see what new items will be offered! Read more

Casamigos & Don Julio Margaritas are super strong and delicious. ???????????????????????? Old Review from October2022. Authentic North Indian Food at their Beautiful New Location at 168 Montowese Street in Branford, Ct. This is the BestIndian restaurant in the state of Ct, hands down. A small fishpond with a Fountain, Tranquil and soothing at this Newlyrenovated building. Their Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Saag, Malai Kofta, Saag Paneer and Korma is to die for. Their freshCheese Garlic Naan from the Oven and Long Grain Basmati Rice Biryani is Scrumptious. They now have a full Bar with a separateside entrance (Via Municipal Parking Lot) at this new Location, a wide variety of wines to choose from and some of theirHandcrafted cocktails are Strong and amazing. Pictures are of Combo Vegetarian Thaali, Lamb Saag, Non Vegetarian Thaali and theBeer is Neipa from Still Hill Brewery of Rocky Hill, Ct. Delicious New England IPA from a Native Ct Brewery. Negative Reviewsare usually written by Indians, totally ignore them, those negative reviews are bogus and have no Standing. Most Indian Patronsare Cheap, show up Late, Criticize the food and leave Zero Tips for the hardworking waitstaff. Order their Combo Thaali andChallenge yourself to finish it, simply delicious. Always our favorite Indian restaurant, but they've really stepped up their game recently with an expanded menu of delicious ... offerings across a large range of categories and super-helpful owners and staff to guide your choices. Their new location isbeautiful and offers greatly expanded off-street parking. A new full-service bar with twin televisions is available in thewaiting area. Reservations a must on weekends! Take-outs still a popular option as well. Read more

We have been going to Darbar since we moved here 7 years ago! We love the food - curry, garlic Naan, vindaloo -- all... delicious. You can choose your "heat" level. We are regular customers and are usually served by "B", who is a wonderfulserver, who remembers what we drink ???? Highly recommend!! Read more

Checked new location and was not disappointed! They did a total gut of the building and it looks great. We are not experts on... Indian food and i normally relied on a couple coworkers in the past to steer me to menu items I'd like, but we quickly settledon two dishes, a curry and a masala that were delicious. We had hoped to try their new Indian pizza, which while on the new menuis not yet available, suggest calling ahead if that's also on your mind! Read more

It's hard to pass up stopping at Darbar when I travel through Connecticut. Amazing small business that really knocks it out of... the park with all their food! This place is moving soon to where Assaggio was on Montowese Street, I expect them to do wellthere in a new chapter in their life! Read more

We had terrible experience about the food. It had a very poor customer service standard as well. In fact this is a shame. There... are missing items and when I called them, they were not eager to listen and slammed the phone to hang up the call. The foodswere not fresh and were from the last day lunch buffet. The curry tasted like pasta sauce and watery, no spices and no taste. Wecustomized the food for spicy, but they don't bother to cater to your requests. They just throw in some refrigerated food fordinner and since it was delivered, they knew they can just get away with it. When we called them, the person even said that"That was not us". That means they only care about the bucks and little about the service. We ordered 2 dishes, Darbar non vegthali and mix grill. The food was extremely horrible. Gravy was boiled veg soup with crushed tomato paste. The dal tasted stale. The chana masala had no masala and tasted like crushed tomato. The saag paneer also tasted poor and had no spices. The chickentandoori had a peculiar bone marrow smell because of prolonged refrigeration. The tikka masala and korma were too sweet. Thepoori was normal and the samosa was good. A wastage of 50 bucks. A decent place in the middle of no where. We were on our way back to Manhattan from New Hampshire and wanted to stop somewhere... in the middle to have some Indian dinner. And this restaurant came up. We were pretty late but had called the owner andinformed him earlier. He was also waiting for us and took ours as the last order. I really appreciate this and was happy aboutit. The ambience was neat and felt like home. However the 4 star rating is for the food that was not up to the standard. Thechicken was over cooked but it was decent . I guess since ours was the last batch it was expected to be not that great. OverallI would say 5 star for ambience and 5 star for the staffs but 4 stars for the food. Read more
