I'm from Chicago so, I compare great Italian food from home. I will say my appetizer was great, food good, (small portions) and... nice little variety selection of wine. Volare is hands down my favorite Italian food place ever. My wife and I found this little gym about 10 or 11 years ago on our... annual wildflower trip. This is now our golden standard for what Italian food should be. This is truly a gym and we're fineespecially in a rural town like brenham. We always make it a point to eat here when we're anywhere near. We've been down herefor over a decade and the quality has never taken a hit. At all. I've never had a bad dish and the tiramisu is to die for. Infact volare created the tradition in our family of judging an Italian food restaurant by their tiramisu. We loved the atmosphere here. The service was superb and our waiter was great to explain everything to us when we asked. The... food was excellent! I can be picky about my lasagna and when I tried the one my wife ate, I loved it. The chicken Alfredo wasvery tasty, as well as everything else. After years of going to this restaurant, the past several visits haven?t been near as good. I wanted to give them the benefit of... a bad night but we have been back several times since and the experience was consistently a disappointment.They won?t let youmake substitutions anymore or take tomato?s off your salad. This was not always the case. They stated the reason was becausethey were busy, but the restaurant was only half full. I am sad to see this because they were our favorite place when in Brenhamfor the Antique Show. Read more
We were in Brenham for the weekend and decided to eat dinner here. Excellent choice. I had my favorite dish, chicken Marsala and... my husband had the spaghetti Bolognese, both were delicious. We had calamari and mozzarella sticks for appetizers. Also verygood. Would definitely recommend. The place itself is unique in that it is a converted house. A plus were the bathrooms thatwere very clean and smelled amazing. Can?t wait to go back. Read more
We ordered appetizers, main course, wine and tea, And both had different desserts. The meal was very well prepared, perfect... temperature, and uniquely flavored. The staff was helpful but did not get in our way or interrupt our conversation. This is avery comfortable come as you are but higher-end restaurant. Great atmosphere and fabulous food. I highly recommend the stuffed mushrooms - fantastic!! The house wine (we got cab) was good... but is the only option for wine by the glass. All other selections are by the bottle, which wasn't cost effective since therewere only two of us and we each just drink one glass. Too bad, since they do have a great wine selection.
