This place is awesome, got the pork in the sauce with rice and beans and plantains. It was good, but then I used some hot honey... I had at home and that took it next level. This place brings me back to my roots, I can only find good Hispanic food in NY when I go visit family or when they cook. If you're Dominican, Dominican culture/food enthusiast, or wanting to try something new check this place. I tried to dial ahead... to check if sancocho was available; the line went straight to voice-mail. Sancocho comes with a side of rice. The empanadas aremade with white cheese (as it should be). The guanabana juice taste like the fruit was picked from the tree and servedimmediately. It was so fresh and delicious! 1st time visiting this place...chose to carryout but it's nice inside. Was greeted promptly and employee was friendly. Ordered... platter with Moro de Gandules, carne guisada, and mixed vegetables. Everything looked fresh, was nice hot temperature and cookedwell. The stewed beef was super tender and flavorful, the rice tasted great and had good flavor as did the vegetables. So I really wanted the OX tails but they didn?t have any so I got the beef. The beef was very tender and flavorful the veggies... were nice and crunchy. The only downfall for me was the rice and plantains were cold the rice also need a tad more seasoning.Overall great service and food was very tasty I definitely would come back. Read more
The food is hit or miss, but it is very delicious. The first time I went everything was great! The Carne guisada was tender, the... arroz con gandules were flavorful, and the empanadas were so good I had to order more to go. I also loved the vibe! But thesecond time I went, the yuca was hard undercooked and the Carne guisada tasted very salty. It was disappointing as everythingwas perfect the first time. Read more
