Local gem and cultural icon. If you go through Merritt absolutely treat yourself to this little fast food place. Best clam... strips, scallops and chowder I have ever eaten. Ordered the Buffalo wings and curly fries for 16$. I thought I would get a good amount of wings but was sad to find 5 on my... plate. The wings are average and the curly fries are over priced. I will drop a picture here for reference but for $4.50 Iexpected more fries than this. I love to eat out and have been to many exceptional establishments. For $16, this is not worthit. I will not be going back, thank you. Edit: I don’t know how to put pictures but the fries portion is about the same sizeas the container for blue cheese/ranch. Edit 2: I got it working. Enjoy the picture. I recommend getting something moreenjoyable and filling like chipotle (12$ for a huge burrito). Anywhere else honestly. As you can see in the photo, the Buffalowings have no sauce on them nor were we given hot sauce packets. Instead we got ketchup packets. Weird since we ordered Buffalowings. Hope this helped! Merritt Canteen has been around for decades. I've been going for 35 plus years. Great food pretty fast service depending how... crowded it is. The staff is pretty quick when it gets busy. They have handicap and wheel chair access for those who need it.Customer bathrooms. Their menu is pretty big. You will have a lot to choose from. Sorry for the 4 stars but its a bit pricey. Read more

I love the mural! Hopefully they fixed the so-called honey mustard sauce. Either way, my BF and I made our way back to Merritt... this weekend to try the patty melt and I must say that it was perfect! Stopped by to grab another patty melt, along with aCajun chicken sandwich, and onion rings. Everything was great! Only disappointment is the fact that they got rid of theirspecials menu. I'm not sure if it was something that happened as a result of the pandemic and they just never bought it back orwhat. Read more

Best Chili around. Hot dogs are dried so they have a nice crunch. My favorite are the Portuguese rolls they use for the... breakfast sandwiches. A Bridgeport staple. Food comes out very quickly. Flood prices have gone up a little, but Inflation Iguess. They need to pen more locations around Connecticut though. I think they were on an episode of Diners drive Inns and diveson food network.
