This was the worst meal we had ever had at Applebees. My Granddaughter?s kids meal had milk that not only was expired by a... week, but had soured so bad it had floating globs of sour in the container. Her Chicken Alfredo was ok - but the ?friedchicken? was mostly just fried bits of breading. My oriental salad had way too much dressing on it - plus something in thesalad had a very stale taste to it. My husband had an oriental wrap which also just fell apart because of the absorbent amountof dressing. Our waitress was good - she was responsive and timely. Great experience. Sat at the bar and bartender and manager were very friendly and helpful. Only complaint would be non existent... cell service. But who needs that when taking a break for food, fireball, and football. Read more

Brookings Applebee?s location has gone downhill over the past 2 years. Tonight was the worst overall I?ve experienced. Service... was slow, waitress never came and checked on us, we had to ask for water refill after our waters sat empty and on edge of table. We ordered an order of their new ?Beef loaded Nachos? for appetizer ($11.99) and there was burned hard crusty hamburger pieceson it and not much else. Taco Bell would?ve been far better. Looked nothing like the picture in the menu on line. (I wish Iwould?ve taken pictures) For my main dish, I had Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp, and it came to the table not even sizzling,not at all, the chicken was dry and hard to cut, and there were little tiny shrimps, like the small shrimps people put on pizzason the top. I will say the mashed potato?s tasted good. Also when I went to use the salt shaker, none came out, so I opened thejar and there was salt inside that was in clumps and must?ve been damp, the couple sitting at the next table also said the sameabout their salt. Cold vacant vibe when we first entered. Waited for several minutes before a host showed up to seat us in the smallest booth they... had even though we passed by several open/not reserved 4 top booths. On an up side our waitress was adorable, patient,professional and engaging with us. She was knowledgeable about the drink and entree options and made a couple excellentsuggestions. The drinks were delivered promptly. The appetizers were delivered hot and fresh a couple minutes after the drinksand within 10 minutes the entrées were set on the table hot beautiful and smelling delicious! kudos to the cooks and to ourawesome waitress you made our uninvited first impression melt away with every savory bite! I have always made a point to bring my family to Brookings Applebee?s?s for selection and even service. I like to support local... businesses. Today however I have had the worst service and attitude and tone I have ever experienced. Ever! I have not had thisparticular waitress in the past and have been on the last to serve when she was behind the bar previously. The waitress helpingus kept apologizing and we actually watched this same woman whom I am complaining about at the bar and visiting gentlemen andactually do nothing else until they left and then I received my drink. Shortage of staff is A problem but one that iscomfortable enough to be complacent and rude to customers is a problem. Many servers would know me by site. You have lost mybusiness and everyone I brought with me as a treat. Read more
Excellent service and delicious meal. Upon arrival I was greeted by the manager. I only had a few minute wait time. Normally... it?s a little bit longer during the week day but not much. I didn?t have to wait long for my meal and or drink order. The backend of the house was on point as well. I had the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp along with the mashed potatoes. Everythingwas cooked to perfection. I normally don?t get something after dinner but this time around I went with the Apple blondie. Thatwas delicious as well. As much as I like mom and pop places nothing beats a chain. You know for the most part the quality willbe there. If you are passing by stop on in. Like I said the staff is really friendly. Came in on a Friday evening at 630pm, people were seated in dining room and bar area. Asked for a booth in dining room,hostess... said "dining room is closed" she was rude and condescending, not the birthday meal I drove over an hour to celebrate. We decidedto spend our money elsewhere. Read more
