Simply good food. Strongly suggest to get the cold udon and tan tan. One of the best udon place in NYC.

Made a reservation and arrived 30 minutes early, we were promptly seated. The plastic barriers that were placed in between each... and every table has been removed. I have to admit when eating there, I felt uncomfortable as every table is within 3 feet awayfrom you and they tend to be fully packed even on a Thursday night at 9:30PM. The menu is extensive, I ordered two orders of thenabeyaki udon and the fried chicken appetizer. The fried chicken was soggy which was disappointing. There is a paste that isserved alongside, but I would rather see a sauce since it is difficult to apply a paste to fried chicken. The udon themselvesare a specific type and are not the usual everyone may be familiar with. It has sort of a more sumptuous texture in the sensethat if you squeezed an udon with your lips, it would feel like a snap instead of the usual mush im used to. Almost as if theudon is Al dente, this is a preference for some, but not mine. The service itself is courteous, but can be slow at times. Waterwas never refilled and food was never checked on after serving. Overall, it’s worth trying as it is recognized by Michelin, but not worth a repeat. The crowd appears to be mostly couples or close friends with small parties of 2-3 people average. Read more

We called in advance to make sure we wanted the outdoor seating but when we arrived the restaurant the staff said it’s not... available for us to get the seat. We asked twice to make sure to move us to outdoor seating if there’s vacant seats but endedup eating indoor that night and never got the chance to be moved outside. The udon is quite good and delicious, but the friedtofu my friend had in the bowl was overly seasoned and it’s ridiculously sour. So we notified the staff and they made anotherbowl for us and treated us a piece of cake, which is tasty! Read more

Ive heard this place gets really busy but maybe because of the holidays we got lucky and were able to walk in on a friday night.... There was staff buzzing around the front but no one said hello or “give us a moment” so we were kind of just chilling therefor 5 minutes looking around. I get it on a busy day but on a slow day? Gave me careless , Ill greet them when Im ready Im onclosing mode already vibe. Regardless, udon was delicious. The vegetarian tomato ramen had the tastiest broth with freshtomatoes and mushrooms. The tempura was amazing. My friend didn’t like how chewy the cold udon noodles were but they areprepared different than the hot udon noodles on purpose we assumed. Decor was very cozy and perfect on a winter day. Read more

My bf and I came around 6:30pm on a Friday night and about 20 mins later that’s when tables started to fill up. The outdoor... seatings were all reserved so we sat inside and the tables were very close to each other. We ordered their 4 piece karaage, tori & kinoko udon and nabeyaki udon. I was disappointed in the texture of the udon noodles since it was on the firm side. Ithought both the broth were delicious. But overall it didn’t meet my expectation for it being featured as a Michelin BibGourmand. Maybe we should’ve ordered something else? Since the tables were so close, I saw the woman next to me ordered theirmentai udon and later overheard her ordered a completely new udon dish lol Read more

We swung by here right before the place opened to see a line. Not sure if that’s an every weekend experience but be warned.... The menus are vague but essentially says it all. We ordered the agedashi tofu, chicken mushroom udon which had a surprise ofspinach with yuzu, and tan tan pork udon which was creamy tasting with really good pork pieces. Both soups were well puttogether, with quality ingredients cooked with care. Took two stars off only because the quality of the noodles wasinconsistent. One bowl was good with the right amount of bite, but the other was much too soft. All in all, this place isbasically a good spot with simple soups and good ingredients. Read more

Hanon was recommended by our friends who are super picky with Japanese cuisine, especially Udon. Their entrance is humble &... simple and it's easy to miss. There are more patio seatings with cozy ambiance than indoor seatings. We had their ChickenKaraage, Agenasu Kinoko Ankake (Eggplant with mushroom) and Half & Half Kamo Seiro Udon to share with a group of 2. We loveeverything, especially the eggplant and mushroom, which was braised so flavorful and juicy. The udon was also good and thenoodle was chewy and perfect with the sauce. However, their service was slow and reluctant despite of their great food. Weasked for water & check so many times but we ended up requesting from the counter directly ourselves. Read more
