The atmosphere in this place is pretty comforting. R& B, and soul classics from the mid 1900's played in the background and the... walls were covered with all types of memorabilia. It is clearly a family run establishment and for that I'll keep it nice . Theshrimp were fresh and seasoned well. The mac and cheese was ok, not bad but not exceptional. The string beans were the leastpleasing part of my meal. Very soggy and not as flavorful as I would have liked. The service needs a little tighten up Maybehire a wait staff person. I love this place! Come here for real auntie vibes. No, it’s not the most efficient but honestly there are countless places... for soul food in a corporate atmosphere if that’s what you want. Here you get great food at a great price in a laid backauthentic setting. Love. Read more
I had a mixed bag experience. The service was great - very friendly and kind. The wait for the food was pretty long (and even... longer for a man who called ahead for food). The two dine in chairs were both broken. The pork chop dinner (with mashedpotatoes, yams, and cornbread) was alright but not necessarily great. They DO accept credit cards (despite a cash only sign). Finally got food 55 mins after ordering and it's very good. Original 1 star review: lady working behind the counter tells me... it's gonna be 30 more minutes after I've already waited 20 mins, and I need to wait outside? Even tho there's no line ornothing? Not even busy in there.. why u ask a customer to go wait outside in the july heat? Read more
I go out of my way to support black owned businesses but my people. You have have to better in the area of BUSINESS. They have... outdated prices on their chalkboard menu (no excuse not to update it). The item I ordered was $11.50 but they charged me $15.50and when I asked they said “oh the menu needs to be updated”. Ordering from here is a mess, they have no logic separatingpeople picking up orders from people waiting in line. I stood in line for an extended period of time because they thought I waspicking up. Lastly, they have signs that indicate they accept visa/Mastercard/American Express/discover and they also havesigns that say “CASH ONLY”. Which one is it? Amazing breakfast in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Warm people, great Soul music and delicious food. I strongly recommend this place.
This place has most excellent vibes. Wall art that feels authentic, not procured by some corporate restaurateur. Great tunes. ... A menu that is simple but feels truly domestic and comforting. Fantastic, endearing alternative to the “trendy” soul foodnearby. Worth the stop, especially for their Sweet Tea. Read more
The food I ordered wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. I was a bit disappointed to be honest. I definitely will not order... this combination again. The turkey wings were dry and could use a bit more seasoning, the salmon croquettes were salty and thecollard greens were bland. I did love the decor. The restaurant is super cute and homely. If the food was better I woulddefinitely recommend Ma-n-Pop for a cute lunch date or I would suggest to try another menu item. Read more
