Inside Japan Village, great spot for ramen. A bit pricey, but tons of people line up for their ramen daily. Does not disappoint.

What a delicious bowl of ramen. The meat here is what shines through here. Very flavoursome, great char and tender. The bamboo... shoots here are very tasty. The broth isn't the best in NYC but definitely outshined by the meat. The ramen egg seems to beoverdone here often based on other reviews but the marinade flavour is there. A great choice if you're in the area. I wishthey'd not use plastic spoons, it ruins the experience and the environment. You have to wash the bowls anyway. Read more

4.5/5 ?? Setagaya (inside Japan Village) Black Garlic Tonkatsu DX - $16. Broth - 4/5. The broth is creamy and fatty the way I... like it but the reason I?m giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is simply because knowing I had better and more concentrated brothwithin the NYC areas. Chashu - 5/5. This is the perfect example of how I love my chashu? Charred and fatty. No sweet glazeneeded. I always order extra slices on top of the ramen. Noodles - 4/5. Firm straight noodles. I definitely appreciate more nowthan the past. If I still had to be honest, I still prefer thick and wavy noodles. Read more

Absolutely delicious and a great experience!! Sat down to eat here and the atmosphere was bustling and the workers were very... kind. I at first ordered something asking for the meat to be removed and the person taking my order was kind enough to let meknow the broth was also an animal broth and helped me choose a vegetarian friendly ramen and even made sure I was ok with tofu. The care she put into helping me with my order and the freshness of the food- this was an incredibly decadent meal! The spicyveggie miso ramen is delicious with the perfect heat. The noodles had a perfect chew. This was an incredibly wonderful andwarming meal on a rainy day and I will definitely eat here next time I?m in Japan Village again. Thank you! Read more

Delicious and priced right. For a bit over $10 you can have a taste of heaven! I've been to more Ramen places that I can count... and there's always something off. Whether it's the broth, what is added in, poorly cooked noodles, poor quality noodles, poorquality meat, there's always something. Setagaya made it a point to find heir balance. They offer the typical Ramen with meatand the DX bowl which also has the preserved egg. Of course I went right to the DX bowl! The meat was extremely tender, properly charred and gently seasoned, noodles were cooked perfectly and I can tell from watching them cook they didn't use atimer, they actually paid very close attention to how they cook the Ramen. They use the straight Ramen, not the wavy which isfine but I do prefer the wavy. The scallions were fresh and the bamboo shoots, although they probably came from a can, did nottaste like it. Service here was friendly and helpful which is always a big plus. For a fast-food style place, 4 star is myhighest rating and they earned it for sure. Keep in mind there literally is a handful of items on their menu, mainly Ramen soif you're looking for something else and instead eat here, you must remember you chose to eat Ramen. Read more

The waitress illegally tip 20% on my credit card!! I went to Setagaya St. Marks (on February 16th 4pm) not this location. But I... can?t review Setagaya East Village on google so I post the review here. Sorry? The service was terrible and the ramen tastedlike water. I didn?t tip (you can see the picture of my receipt), but the waitress illegally charged 20% tip on my bank later. So I'm gonna report to NYPD and dispute the illegally charged 20% tip. Read more

I have visited many better Japanese ramen places so my expectations are a bit higher in quality so that is why I was... disappointed. It tastes okay but for the price paid I didn?t get egg which is a must have for tonkatsu ramen or no add one suchas corn which is my preference. I realized that in order to get egg and more ingredients that are in the OG tonkatsu I needed toorder the DX Tonkatsu which is around 2-3 dollars more. And the seating is a bit complex here as you need someone else to savethe seat while the other orders. If takeout ramen is something by your don?t mind then coming here is for you. In addition, abooster shot is required in order here in order to sit as well. Honestly just okay not the best I have had. Read more

Had such a delicious meal here! Although it was difficult to get seats during dinnertime, the food was great! We had the Classic... Tonkotsu ramen and Miso Ramen. The classic had a delicious broth, but I preferred the miso broth due to its enhanced flavor. Themiso also included sprouts and cabbage which were an added texture element to this ramen. The chashu was also delicious forboth. The scallion for both dishes were very fresh and crunchy. I really enjoyed my meal here! Read more
