Great place with lively music. Excellent customer service. The food is delicious. Does not matter what you order will not be... disappointed. A must visit if your in Brownsville. Luckily they also have locations in South Padre Island, San Benito and inthe future Pharr, Texas. The managers of this place are on top of everything. The drinks were very tasty and delicious. I had the cucumber lemonade and my son had the strawberry lemonade. The tacos were... good and filling but still lacked a bit of flavor. The only thing I didnt enjoy as much were the tripa tacos, they were toocrunchy for my taste, more like chicharrones. The salsas were alright. The charro beans were pretty good. We are new to tacos, having ground beef and cheese taco as our only experience. So we weren't ready for the variety and... explosion of flavors this place has to offer. Furthermore, our experience with different meats in Mexico was often the overlydry variety offered by tourist traps in Cancun. The meats from here were juicy and tender, and believe me I'm Asian, and I knowtender meats. You just gotta try this place, or should I be selfish and keep it a secret, since too many people already know ofthis place and we had to wait to get a table even in mid-afternoon. Read more

There are a ton of taco places in Brownsville! How to choose? Well, I always check with the locals, and Calacas was a... favorite. I got lucky and arrived just before the dinner rush. My server was very friendly and helpful with menu options. I?vehad plenty of street style tacos, so I went for some of their signature tacos. First up were the Quesabirria tacos with yummypulled pork and melted cheese with nuclear red-orange taco shells. Right behind them were the Baja tacos with a generous servingof fried fish and cabbage. Both were delicious in their own rights! I washed it down with a recommended beer called Indio,garnished with salt and lime. It was all around awesome experience. Next time I?ll have to try the ribeye tacos. Pricey at $20for 4, but I suspect that they won?t disappoint. Read more
