The parking in downtown Brownsville is horrible and that?s not their fault. We showed up early afternoon and there was one other... table. The place has been completely reinvented from the dive bar it used to be. I ordered shrimp tacos and my husband a shrimpplate. My tacos were good. The shrimp was breaded with a mix of corn meal and flour. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked,not chewy or overdone. The tortillas for the taco weren?t as warm as they should have been, and the rice was not to my hubsliking. The green tea was refreshing. The service was not very good considering we were one of 2 tables. I had to go the barand ask for refills and they forgot our water. I gave them 4 stars because the shrimp were very good. I?m a shrimper?s daughterand I know those were gulf shrimp done right. We will be back and try one of their hotdogs which I hear are amazing. To becontinued? Read more
The Palm Lounge is a historic downtown restaurant and bar. They are known for their delicious burgers, my favorite is the... jalapeno burger. I also very much enjoy their jalapeno poppers, which are stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon thenserved on a corn tortilla like a taco with grilled onions on the side, amazing. I met up with the some friends here. The atmosphere was nice and chill. I also had a burger here and it was really good. Better... than I expected, tbh, and it was reasonably priced too. The bartender was very friendly also. Great experience, overall. Read more
Nice place with long history. The upkeep and remodeling is fantastic so kudos to owner/management for the cleanliness and fun... vibes. It?s lacking events or promotion, but maybe that?s intentional. I enjoy the place whenever I get around to it. Bartendersand drinks are great. Read more
Great Food, Great Music, Great Time. I?ve been here a few times, and each time been equally impressed. Drinks are made to... order, and the beer is ice cold. I stopped by for a late lunch. Tried the small shrimp ceviche & the fish ceviche tostada. Which I ended up mixing them (I just... like to be a little different????) It was super good.
