I recently moved into an apartment across the street. After a long day of work, I felt like a meal and a drink. So I visited... Avalon. Right away, I could tell the staff was friendly and attentive, from the hostess to the bartender. I sat at the bar andhad an excellent martini. For my meal, I had Judy's Foodie Pasta and beef dish. It's obvious that the owners invested time thinking through all the details of this location. The atmosphere comes across as... more formal than cozy and prices only reinforce that impression. Parking in the rear, cute decor and lighting with a nice bar. Right next to the Bryn Mawr movie house. We came in at 5pm on a... Sunday and were quickly greeted and seated by the hostess. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered the Avalon burger, Shortrib pasta entree and the burrata and beets as an entree as well as the meatballs for appetizers. The meatballs were hot andcovered in melted mozzarella and tomato sauce, flavor was not too meaty maybe even bland but the cheese and sauce helped dressthem up. Nice size to share two meatballs with 3 people. The burger for the value was just okay, big partty cooked medium rare,with ketchup and flaky crunch french fries. The burrata and beets entree came over a bed of green beans and sprinkled almondsand a balsamic glaze to top off the beets, very delicious and flavorful just the right size portion. The short rib pasta dinnerwas flavorful and a generous portion the sauce was creamy. Overall food was above average and on the expensive side. Service 5stars! Read more
Sara was one of the friendliest waitresses we ever had. 100% attentive without pushing it. We went during Happy Hour. Took all... appetizers they had. Absolutely delicious! The wine they recommended was amazing too. A little noisy, but better than most otherrestaurants. We will be back. Read more
