Really enjoyable meal in a cozy atmosphere. We went in around 3pm ahead of a Halloween event. Shrimp and grits were good -... shrimp a tad overcooked. Gumbo was also sampled, which was delicious. Kid had chicken fingers, which were actual chicken -- apleasant surprise. The bread pudding was sickly sweet. The ice cream (not sure what brand) was also very sweet so we couldn'tfinish it between the two of us. Overall, really good meal, will happily go back when the full menu (Chicken and Dumplings onlyafter 4pm) is available. Read more

Food was good, the waitress was great. They didn't get part of my order correct but all the great food made up for it. Spicy... Brussels are so good and the hush puppies are great! The chicken fried steak was perfectly tender. The cajun food was good justnot authentic cajun. Read more

Some of the best customer service I?ve seen in a restaurant in 20 years. Very attentive and eager to make your visit a good... experience. But I would respectfully like to make a request to the kitchen?please turn down the heat on your egg griddle. Myfried eggs had the brown crispy around the edges, and the white was still raw runny inside. An over medium egg should not haverunny whites. But once the outside of the egg is already too done, they have to come off the griddle. You can?t get an egg rightif your griddle is too hot. One more request? the menu said ?country fried potatoes?. It didn?t say anything about big chunks ofbell pepper and onion which I had to tediously remove. A pretty good percentage of the population doesn?t want to be surprisedby those pungent green bell peppers, and another good bit of the population doesn?t want big chunks of onion in their breakfastpotatoes. It?s your kitchen. I?m simply saying, what you put on the menu is all I have to go on when I make my choices. Therestaurant was packed as soon as the doors opened, so obviously they?re doing a lot of things right. Read more

I wanted this place to be knock my socks off good!!! From the moment I walked in I was impressed with the music they were... playing and the ambiance. I think if they turned the lights down just a little bit it could set a mood but I loved themusic! We were greeted right away asked to wait a moment. It was not too busy we arrived around 8:30 and they closed at10. Service started out a little slow. We ordered fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. These fried green tomatoes tasted morelike fried pickles to me and the batter they used was very thick and they seemed to be slightly over cooked on the outside andundercooked on the inside. I was literally playing tug of war with each bite. Sadly it was husbands first time trying friedgreen tomatoes and he kept asking are they supposed to be this spicy, are they supposed to be this heavy. It almost seemed likethey used the same batter as the hush puppies. The hush puppies had a good flavor on the inside but the outside tasted likethey had been fried in old oil. They had a bit of an aftertaste too. My husbands food was very good. He had the grilledcatfish, cheesy grits and sautéed spinach. I tasted everything on his plate and kind of regretted it because I liked his foodway more than mine. I had the blackened snapper (Med spice), Mac and cheese and hush puppies. The snapper was pretty thick andit was dry. It had a lot of spices but it was bland. The Mac and cheese was edible. It reminded me of when my 8 year olddaughter makes me max and cheese from the Velveeta box with the liquid cheese. The jalapeño corn bread was bland. I didn'tlike it. My husband said it was missing something. I think growing up in the south I was expecting Louisiana, Arkansas,Mississippi flavors. I had the improved old fashioned as it was recommended in one of the Yelp reviews I read. I think I'mgoing to stick to what I know because the old fashion seemed very sweet and almost syrupy. It had a very nice presentation. Idrank as much Read more

This was not the first time we had been to Brooklyn's. We decided to give this a go after trying to decide what to eat for... dinner on a Friday night. We figured if we waited too long, we might be stuck having to wait. When we got there, the hostess wasvery personable and asked if we wanted to seat at the bar or outside. We opted for the bar, since it was a little humid outside.I did notice they had changed the menu once again. I was glad to see they are changing it to keep up with the demand. I alsoknow restaurants will change their menus when food prices increase as well. It is the cost of doing business. We ordered theSpinach dip. I was not impressed that they put a big slice of cheese on the top and put it in the Salamander. The actual Spinachdip was "lukewarm". They also served it with sliced soft bread. I would have liked bread that was either toasted or harderbread. I ordered the Gorditas de Polo de Hongo. The chicken had a nice tang to it. I wanted a tad bit more Hongo (Mushrooms). Itwould have been nice if they were not so cooked in the meat. The masa was hot and firm. The Shrimp was a little on the smallside. There was nothing "large" about these shrimp. We had joked that it must have been there "lunch" shrimp and not the dinnershrimp. This was the first place I had ever seen a 50% on the Suggested Tip. 50%? Seriously? This is the first place I had everseen a 50% suggestion on the receipt. The waitress was great and accommodating. Overall, it was a good experience. I woulddefinitely go back. Read more
